The Animus 5.0 is a virtual reality machine created by the Assassin Jason Hart from based on the Animus designs of Rebecca Crane and Layla Hassan. It allows the user to relive a subject's genetic memories and project it into three dimensions.
While this functions like a regular Animus, this version fits comfortably on the wearer's head. Like the HR-8, it sequences information stored in the user's red blood cells. This version of the Animus reduces the risks of the Bleeding Effect, nausea and headaches and also allowed the user to relive a subject's memory's for a longer period of time.
It also has a much different interface and puppeteer motion controls, making reliving a subject's memories much easier.
In late 2017, Jason updated the interface of the Animus 5.0 and also changed the memory corridor in the process.
Once more, in 2022, after 5 years without use Jason Hart updated the 5.0's software to 5.2 - adding in new features for when Horatio explored the lives of his ancestors.
