Anthony Johnson was a Templar turned Assassin during the mid 1800s in the United States of America. He was initially affiliated with the British Templar Order but ended up betraying them and joining t he American Brotherhood of Assassins during the American Civil war. He ended up falling in love with a former slave and American assassin named Emma Thompson, who showed him the truth of the Templar's goals and convinced him to defect to their side. After that he had many trials where he worked to earn the trust of the rest of the assassins, especially the leaders. After the war the two of them got married and had eight kids, two sons and six girls. He continued to work for the American assassins until his death in the year 1900 at the age of 58.
Anthony was born to a long line of British Templars, but his family dates back much further than even the founding of the British Empire. He has significant ancestors in countless pre-empire European countries and kingdoms, most notably Spain and Portugal, and all of those ancestors were Templars. That's why it was such a big deal when he defected, as he was next in line to be the head of one of the most prominent Templar families in all of Europe. After his betrayal, in addition to continuing to aid the Assassins for the rest of his life, he tried his best to turn his family around and make them into an Assassin family, but all of his efforts failed, and they remain a prominent Templar family to this day; not only that, but Anthony himself has been scrubbed from his family's history, so most of the modern members of the family don't even know that he existed.
Anthony's death has some mystery surrounding it. According to Emma Thompsons' personal records, he was killed by Templars while out on a mission for the assassins, but they never recovered his body. Emma believed until the day she died that he was killed by the Templars directly, but no solid evidence was ever found.
