Chapter 1[]
Hayley Yasutake is woken up by Jennifer Westwood after being defeated and knocked out by Kyle North. Dazed and confused, Jennifer reminds Hayley that Horatio and the others may be in danger which snaps Hayley back into action. The two rush back inside the Conservatory and make their way to its Stasis Chamber entrance. There they find Jason and Erica standing and watching Horatio in silence, Hayley and Jennifer approach the two Assassins and realise why.
Horatio is still cradling Arnold's lifeless body in silence. The two remained behind and watched in respectful silence, allowing Horatio to mourn. At the sigh of Arnold's body, Jennifer immediately begins crying whereas tears silently begin to stream down Hayley's cheeks.
They bury Arnold a few miles outside the Conservatory, Jennifer tearfully remarks at how she hates the fact that Arnold is being buried in an unmarked grave, like a piece of trash. Erica counters Jennifer's statement, explaining that the nature of their work is secret and a public burial puts them at risk, as well as this, Arnold's body would be an asset to Abstergo as they could freely extract the genetic memories of his ancestors. Horatio remains silent through the entire exchange, leading Jason to call for his attention.
Finally speaking up, Horatio vows to kill North and the Isu. Later on, Hayley makes an encrypted call to William Miles and debriefs him on the situation at hand. Acknowledging this, he assures her that he will make it a top priority to find North and the Isu's whereabouts, and that he will inform her if he learns of anything.
A few days later, a team of Abstergo agents arrive at the Conservatory following sightings of Kyle North and the Assassins in the area, some days prior. Investigating inside, they come across the Stasis Chamber and find the empty pods. The team begin extracting data and DNA from the chamber where an operative, Leah Chavez, sequences the DNA found and discovers a triple helix genome and immediately realises that Isu were being held in the pods. Chavez contacts Abstergo and informs the current CEO of her findings, which she is then assigned to investigate further.
Chapter 2[]
Another day passes, and the team of Assassins arrive in Nigeria to locate the Factory, the Isu temple where all humans originated. Powered by a Source of Eden, it was able to be used as a sort of 'factory reset' to send humans into a docile state, therefore making them easier to be controlled by Pieces of Eden. Horatio remembers that they left the Source there after completing the memories of Ugochukwu and that North and the other Isu may make the Factory their first target.
Horatio and the others entered the Isu temple where he would guide the others to the location of the Source of Eden through the Bleeding Effect. Locating the Source, Horatio breaks the lock of the box it was hidden in and picks up the meteorite fragment, it activates at the touch of his DNA. Despite not being placed on the activation pedestal, the Factory begins to awaken as Horatio's Isu genes interface with the Source. Triggering a Bleeding Effect, Horatio passes out.
The Assassin then wakes up as a Cree child in 1683 by a boy a few years his senior, referring to him as Küpeyakwüskonam. The older boy, named Macquettoquet, is Küpeyakwüskonam's cousin and wants to go explore to which Küpeyakwüskonam accepts but not without inviting Sâkowêw. Much to Macquettoquet's annoyance, he agrees and they find her and invite her - Sâkowêw who is also older than Küpeyakwüskonam but younger than Macquettoquet, and a member of the neighbouring band. She was there amongst other members of her band to socialise and hunt with Küpeyakwüskonam and Macquettoquet's. The three leave their village and head into the woods to explore, they find a deer and are fascinated by it - but a snapping twig in the distance scare them away.
The trio of children then discover they've been found by Frenchmen, carrying muskets. Never having seen Europeans before, the three are frightened but Küpeyakwüskonam has some knowledge of them from stories told by his father. The men began speaking in a language they did not know before eventually grabbing Sâkowêw and taking her hostage. Macquettoquet attacks one of the men to help Sâkowêw but is severely beaten by the French soldiers, the three are then captured and forcibly taken to their village.
The French soldiers, believing Küpeyakwüskonam's village to be members of the Iroquois locate their village and begin attacking it, as a response to the resumed hostilities between the French and Iroquois. The warriors of the village take up arms and fight back, Küpeyakwüskonam is separated from his friends in the chaos and looks for his parents in the middle of the attack. Küpeyakwüskonam witnesses a member of his village fatally shot by three French soldiers, frozen in fear at the horror he witnessed the French soldiers approach Küpeyakwüskonam but are attacked by his mother.
She fights the three off, killing two before being stabbed in the back by the third. Küpeyakwüskonam calls out to his mother and runs over to her, ignoring the French soldier who prepares to kill him but is killed by Küpeyakwüskonam's father, Mahikan. Küpeyakwüskonam is unable to grieve his mother as Mahikan takes Küpeyakwüskonam and places him somewhere hidden before returing to defend the band. Küpeyakwüskonam watches helplessly as the attack rages on.
Chapter 3[]
Horatio is returned to the present, finding himself in the Animus. Confused at what he had just witnessed, he asks what had happened with Hayley explaining that contact with the Source and the Factory's activation seemed to have triggered a Bleeding Effect. Jason informs him that he was pulled out of the simulation when the Factory suddenly powered down. Meanwhile, Erica theorises that the Factory specifically showed him this ancestor for a reason and that it must be linked to North and the Isu. Horatio comments that the Isu were a crafy people, specifically Magni. Believing to have found a lead, the team exit the Factory but take the Source with them in case the other Isu come to use the Factory.
It is summer 1693, and an Assassin is on a ship's top deck overlooking the sea from high up. Another man calls out to her, calling her Ramona, she looks down to see a man, another Assassin who she refers to as Louis. Louis tells her to come down, informing her that they would be in New France shortly. Scaling her way down to ground level, she expresses her excitement to finally see the New World. However, Louis reminds her that they are there for a reason and she must remain focused on the assignment at hand. Ramona heeds her mentor's words and apologises, admitting that finding "it" was more important.
It is then revealed that Leah Chavez was inside the Animus reliving the genetic memories of the Assassin. Exiting the HR-8 model, she is shown to be inside of a crypt in France surrounded by a team of Abstergo agents and technicians, having set up a research station. Abstergo managed to locate Ramona Lucia's burial with Leah being tasked to investigate this Assassin's memories, theorising that she may have an important role in finding and stopping the escaped Isu. Leah then adds to the notes in her laptop where she discusses her findings, as well as her thoughts on Ramona Lucia.
In an unknown location, Kyle North, Shakuru and the others are inside a bunker-like Isu temple. The Isu are still recovering from being in stasis, readjusting to their motor controls after not using them in millennia. Shakuru expresses her delight of being with North again, referring to him as Pah, before expressing sympathy for experiencing so many lifetimes and being away from his people for so long. North reminds her that he isn't the Pah she knew, assuring her that he still loved her deeply, but explains that the high amount of Isu genes allowed him to perfectly merge with Pah's memories and retain elements of his own personality. Shakuru seems disappointed by this, realising, North changes the subject and explains that once everyone has recuperated, they'll enact their plan.
Chapter 4[]
Horatio, Hayley, Jason, Erica and Jennifer are in a van travelling through Nigeria, on their way to a hotel in Onitsha. While on the drive, Horatio swipes through pictures on his phone of him and Arnold. Jennifer notices the pictures and tells him that she was happy that the two managed to reconcile, and that she misses him too, wishing she'd have gotten to hold him one last time. The two embrace for a brief moment before Erica calls for everyone's attention. After conducting some research, cross referencing historical documents and documents from the Assassin database, Erica has gathered more information on Horatio's ancestor.
She explains that his ancestor, Küpeyakwüskonam, was a Cree warrior who aided members of the Parisian Brotherhood in New France. Confused, Jason asks what made him so relevant with Horatio adding that he wasn't even an Assassin. Hayley states that whatever the reason, there was something that happened in Horatio's ancestor's life that the Factory wanted him to see. Erica cautiously pondered if Küpeyakwüskonam's life were even relevant to their mission to stop the Isu, Jennifer adds that they will have to take a "leap of faith".
The group arrive at a hotel and temporarily settle there while Hayley contacts the Altaïr II and arranges for pick up at the nearest port. Horatio proposes getting a start on reliving Küpeyakwüskonam's memories, or Küpeyak as he calls him, commenting on how difficult his name is to pronounce.
Horatio is placed in winter 1693, ten years after the memory he had been placed in inside the Factory. Küpeyakwüskonam, now nineteen, is freerunning through the forest of Northeastern Ontario. He is hunting a deer that is fleeing before finally striking it true with an arrow. Skinning it, Küpeyakwüskonam returns to meet Macquettoquet who has also gathered food and other things from their hunt. Before heading back the two look upon one of the Great Lakes, watching the stream. Macquettoquet comments on how he is glad that their people are remaining neutral in the conflict between the Iroquois and the other tribes, however he shows disdain for the latter for siding with the French. Küpeyakwüskonam ponders on how long their neutrality will last, will the Iroquois come for them next or will they be forced into battle with the other tribes for neutrality. Küpeyakwüskonam comments on his desire to do something about it, stop the war before it reaches them and drive the French out of their home.
They return to their band, which has managed to rebuild and merge with Sâkowêw's band in the ten years since the attack. Upon their return, the cousins are greeted by the other members including Sâkowêw. Küpeyakwüskonam notices Sâkowêw is behaving infatuated toward Macquettoquet, with him reciprocating. Noticing that this has been going on for some time now, he leaves to return to his wigwam and begins sharpening his knife to distract himself. Mahikan enters the wigwam and asks what's wrong with Küpeyakwüskonam neglecting to dislose his feelings. Mahikan offers to train with him to take out his frustrations.
The two begin to train with full contact with the two conversing as they do so. It is revealed that in the ten years Mahikan has trained Küpeyakwüskonam, teaching him French, combat in both the way of their people as well as the French, having retrieved muskets and swords from French soldiers in the past. Following the training, Mahikan confesses that he knows Küpeyakwüskonam has grown restless about the outside conflict, before finally revealing that it was "time he knew the truth".
Chapter 5[]
Küpeyakwüskonam and Mahikan would return to their wigwam, Mahikan sits Küpeyakwüskonam down before beginning his explanation. He reveals to his son the reason as to why he has such knowledge of the French, as well as his accumulation of European weaponry. Mahikan confesses that years before Küpeyakwüskonam's birth, he hailed from the Iroquois and that he fought for his tribe against the French and other tribes, he encountered many French and learned their language and how to use their weaponry in order to fight them. Mahikan then goes on to admit that he grew disillusioned with the Iroquois' reasoning for war and deserted his people, which led him to joining their band.
Mahikan then opens a chest and presents two blades made from both European and Iroquois materials, gifting it to Küpeyakwüskonam. He acknowledges that Küpeyakwüskonam desires to leave the band and forge his own path, that he will not be happy if he remains sheltered for the remainder of his life. Having discussed it with the council, Mahikan reveals that they have agreed to grant him permission to leave. Skeptical, Küpeyakwüskonam is aware that it isn't that simple and questions why they allowed it. Impressed by his son's intuition, Mahikan reluctantly reveals that before Küpeyakwüskonam's birth, when he fought for the Iroquois, he retrieved a mysterious ball off of a dead general wearing a necklace with a cross. Upon touching the ball, he was taken into the spirit world and spoke with the Iroquois creator god Hahgwehidiyu - who foretold of Küpeyakwüskonam's destiny and how his actions will affect the course of the future and their land.
Believing it to be the will of the gods, it was Küpeyakwüskonam's duty to leave the band and achieve what the gods have in store for him. Following this, Küpeyakwüskonam takes the two blades given to him by Mahikan, as well as other weapons of his own, and says his goodbyes to the members of his band. Küpeyakwüskonam hugs his father goodbye and bids Macquettoquet farewell with the latter wishing him luck on his journey and showcasing his faith in him, despite his task sounding impossible. Finally, Küpeyakwüskonam says goodbye to Sâkowêw who embraces him tightly and makes him promise to return safely. Küpeyakwüskonam attempts to confess his feelings for her but eventually falters before agreeing to her promise, ensuring he will visit whenever he can.
A few days later in Southern Ontario, Canada, New France, Ramona is stalking a target through a colony. Realising he is being followed, the Templar flees forcing Ramona to give chase. Catching up to him, the two round a corner and head into an alley where she eventually manages to assassinate him. Moments away from death, Ramona demands information on the Templar Grand Master Guillaume Couture, what he was looking for in New France and how to locate him. The Templar reveals that Couture was in New France, searching for a powerful Precursor artifact that could alter the balance of the world. Sarcastically, Ramona responds that every Precursor artifact has the potential to 'change the world'. Demanding more details, the Templar dies.
Ramona meets up with Louis at a tavern where they relay information they had gathered in their time apart. Informing him of what she learned, Louis notifies her that he managed to learn of another Templar, Canaqueese, a Mohawk-Dutch war chief and intercultural mediator who was linked to the hunt for the Piece of Eden. Explaining that the war chief has been heavily involved in the current war between the indigenous tribes but wasn't sure as to why, however he was certain it linked to the Piece of Eden.
Chapter 6[]
A few months later in the Muskoa region, early 1694, Küpeyakwüskonam is fighting against French soldiers at a camp during nightfall. He narrates at how he'd spent the past few months working his way South, eradicating any French or Iroquois presence near his band. During these months Küpeyakwüskonam learns of the Mohawk war chief Canaqueese and his role as a mediator. Viewing him as a traitor and a risk to the continued European expansion in their land, Küpeyakwüskonam aims to kill him once tracked down. Which led him to the camp he was currently attacking, having discovered Canaqueese had temporarily stayed at the camp some days prior.
After killing the soldiers, Küpeyakwüskonam learned from one of them that Canaqueese had turned against his people and actively fought against the Onödowáʼga. He also learns that Canaqueese is headed to one of the Onödowáʼga villages near Lake Ontario.
In the early hours of the morning the next day, Ramona and Louis arrive at the camp and find the dead French soldiers. The two begin investigating, speculating that it was attack from the Iroquois before learning the massacre was orchestrated by a single individual. Surprised and frustrated, the two wonder what to do next now that they were at a dead end. Lurking in a treetop above, Küpeyakwüskonam witnesses their conversation before pouncing on Louis, threatening to kill him. Ramona draws her flintlock pistol at Küpeyakwüskonam, however Louis remarks on how he is impressed with Küpeyakwüskonam being able to get the drop on him.
Louis, however, manages to slip through Küpeyakwüskonam's grasp and the trio enter a standoff. Küpeyakwüskonam questions why they are in search of the War Chief and what business they have with the French. Surprised at his ability to speak French, Louis introduces Ramona and himself and asks if he was the one who killed all the soldiers in the camp which Küpeyakwüskonam confirms. Louis then asks what it is that Küpeyakwüskonam wants with Canaqueese with the warrior outright confirming his aim to kill him, much to Ramona's disapproval, Louis then reveals his goal to Küpeyakwüskonam. The Assassin proposes that the three work together to accomplish their common goal, with Ramona hastily brandishing her hidden blade and offering to kill him instead.
Küpeyakwüskonam declines initially, expressing his mistrust of outsiders but Louis manages to convince him, revealing that he and Ramona were hunting down the men that threatened the sanctity of his land. Reluctantly, Küpeyakwüskonam agrees to aid them but only until they locate and kill Canqueese.
Chapter 7[]
Back to 2022, Leah exits the Animus once again and begins documenting her discoveries reliving Ramona's memories. She then receives a call from her superior, requesting an update on her progress - Leah confesses that the process has been slow but she is definitely on to something, relaying what she had learned and that Ramona was definitely searching for a Piece of Eden. Leah's superior, however, reprimands her and informs her that for every second longer they take gives the Isu the edge. Leah complies and promises to begin working faster. Reluctantly, Leah returns to the animus.
Meanwhile, in the Isu's hideout - North asks Shakuru what the next step of the plan was, wondering if they planned to use the Factory. Now having mostly recovered, Shakuru reveals to North that the Factory was too small a prize, she did not want to control the humans but instead wipe them out, then repopulate the planet with Isu. North finds interest in the plan, however, he questions how they would do that to which, gleefully, Shakuru responds that there is a lot he didn't know.
Returning to the past, a few days after the encounter between Küpeyakwüskonam and the Assassins. The tension between the three were critically high, Louis requested to learn Küpeyakwüskonam's name which he refused to give. Meanwhile, Ramona herself was mistrustful of Küpeyakwüskonam, unsure of whether he was a member of the Iroquois that fought against the French and other tribes. The two would bicker or outright insult each other during most of this time, leaving Louis to have to play mediator.
While on horseback on their way to the Lake Ontario area, Küpeyakwüskonam recollects the hidden blade Ramona brandished. Cursious, he directly asks her what the weapon was and how she was able to conceal it under her wrist. Ramona is coy with information, criticising the fact that Küpeyakwüskonam feels fine with asking her the complexities of her weapon but refuses to give up any information about his self. Louis reprimands Ramona, stating that they are the outsiders in his land, he owes them nothing and that it is his trust that they need to earn. Louis then goes on to reveal the mechanics and complexities of the hidden blade to Küpeyakwüskonam. Impressed, Küpeyakwüskonam compliments the two Assassins on their advanced technology.
Coming upon a small town in the countryside, the trio separate to search for leads on whether Chief Canaqueese passed through the area, or where he was headed. Louis suggests Küpeyakwüskonam head to a tavern alongside Ramona, meanwhile Louis himself will ask around town. Initially, Küpeyakwüskonam refuses to take directions from the older Assassin, however Ramona informs him that its the best place to gather information. Reluctantly, Küpeyakwüskonam agrees to go to the tavern with Ramona. He is visibly uncomfortable being in a European settlement for the first time, mesmerised and confused by its architecture. Ramona asks what's wrong but Küpeyakwüskonam refuses to disclose his feelings, much to her annoyance.
The two enter the tavern and begin asking around, however Küpeyakwüskonam is met with resistance due to his indigenous heritage and the mistrust from both parties. Ramona questions the bartender, asking if she'd seen a native man accompanied by French soldiers. The bartender confirms this, revealing that Canaqueese holed up at the inn for the night and then headed east that morning. Meanwhile, Küpeyakwüskonam overhears French soldiers discussing a recent raid on a Seneca village, reminding him of their careless attack on his own home. Küpeyakwüskonam immediately confronted the men, leading to a bar brawl between Küpeyakwüskonam and the French soldiers, with Ramona begrudgingly getting involved.
Küpeyakwüskonam and Ramona are promptly kicked out of the tavern, and the two engage in an argument of their own because of his recklessness. Louis reunites with the two, forcing them to stop and heed what information Louis had come back with. Ramona reveals that Canaqueese was headed east, lining up with the information Louis found. The three then made their way east on horseback.
Chapter 8[]
As they travelled further east, they saw a smoke trail in the distance and quickly made their way toward it. They discovered that the raid on the village had already begun, compelled by his empathy Küpeyakwüskonam split away from the others and tried to help the villagers in need. Meanwhile, Ramona and Louis took down the French soldiers and locate Canaqueese amidst the chaos. However, the two encounter another Templar, a French commander by the name of Stéphane D’aureville. Noticing his Templar brand, Ramona and Louis give chase.
As Küpeyakwüskonam helps the villagers and kills the French soldiers, he locates Chief Canaqueese. Küpeyakwüskonam confronts him, calling him out as a traitor and the two engage in a duel. During this duel, Küpeyakwüskonam learns of the existence of the Templars when he questions Canaqueese on turning on his own kind. Revealing that his goal is peace, and that he wants the other tibes and the colonists to co-exist in peace, Küpeyakwüskonam reminds him of the devastation that is being caused right now, and of the attack of his own home and his mother's death, declaring the chance for co-existence was gone. Canaqueese then expresses his belief that the raids were a small price to pay for long lasting peace, stating that their own people were not perfect, reminding him of the Iroquois massacre of other tribes.
Küpeyakwüskonam manages to fatally impale Canaqueese with a musket picked up from the body of a dead soldier, before shooting him. Canaqueese uses his last moments, confessing he only wanted what was best for everyone. Küpeyakwüskonam asks why even attack this village, Canaqueese reveals that the village had information on a Precursor artifact, an 'Eden Engine' and that D'aureville will carry out their work to create a new world before finally dying.
Meanwhile, Ramona and Louis chase D'aureville into a burning lodgehouse. However, the Templar commander is able to escape when Louis saves Ramona from being crushed from a collapsing ceiling, pushing her out of the way and being trapped instead. Ramona tries to free him but to no avail, Louis tells her that she needs to go on and continue the mission before removing one of his hidden blades and giving it to Ramona, commanding her to gift it to Küpeyakwüskonam. Louis believes that she will need his help, that he will keep her alive. Emotionally, Ramona expresses her reluctance to leave and shows her devastation at her mentor's death. However, Louis forces her to leave before the lodgehouse collapses on both of them, reminding her to not let his death be in vain.
In the aftermath of the attack and a few hours after the French retreated following the death of Chief Canaqueese. Küpeyakwüskonam remains behind to help find any surviving villagers, he spots Ramona sitting under a tree alone, holding Louis' bracer. Wandering over to her, he asks where Louis but is met with silence, knowing the context Küpeyakwüskonam apologises for her loss. Ramona comments that, despite how cold Küpeyakwüskonam was toward Louis, he still wanted her to give him his hidden blade and expresses her hesitance to even give it to him.
Unbothered, Küpeyakwüskonam reveals that he killed Canaqueese, and that he mentioned the Templars, asking if she knew what that meant. Ramona claims it was a long story, one he didn't need to hear. Küpeyakwüskonam also informs her of the 'Eden Engine', that they attacked the village looking for it and mentions the name D'aureville. Perking up at the name, she puts two and two together surmising that the Templar they encountered must have been D'aureville. Invigorated by a new lead, and a chance to honor Louis' sacrifice, she prepared to begin her search for D'aureville.
Before she leaves however, Küpeyakwüskonam stops Ramona saying he wants to come with her. When she asks why, he mentions the Templars once again, recollecting how Canaqueese described them, they seemed like an even larger looming threat against his people and home. Ramona confirms this which leads Küpeyakwüskonam to deduce that she and Louis fought against them, and if they did, helping her would contribute to stopping their expansion. Ramona deliberates for a moment, before presenting Louis' hidden blade as a way of agreeing to work with him. Küpeyakwüskonam accepts it as a token of their new partnership. Küpeyakwüskonam finally gives her his name with Ramona opting to shorten it, stating his full name was too complicated to pronounce.
Chapter 9[]
Returning to the present Horatio exits the animus, a few hours having passed since he entered. He asks if the others "got that", referring to the mention of the 'Eden Engine', Jason sarcastically comments on how the name didn't seem ominous at all. Hayley declares that's why the Factory triggered the Bleeding Effect, showing Horatio Küpeyakwüskonam's memories, theorising that Magni manipulated events from the past, knowing this is what everything was leading up to. Erica then adds that the Eden Engine must be what North and Shakuru are searching for, what it does, they can only guess.
Hayley orders Horatio to take a break for the day, which he agrees with. Meanwhile, Jason and Erica tasked themselves with finding more information about the Eden Engines.
A day later, the Altaïr II arrives in Nigeria and the Assassin cell board the ship and sail to sea. The team update the crew of the Altaïr II on their findings and their current task of finding the Eden Engine through Horatio's ancestor's memories. Gavin Banks tells the Assassin team that they can remain on the Altaïr II for now, as they were all in this together and needed to stop North and the others. Gavin also expressed his sympathy for Arnold's death, telling Horatio that he was one of the best. Erica informs the crew that they hadn't come up with anything on the Eden Engine yet, their best bet was to keep going through Küpeyakwüskonam's memories.
All agreeing, Horatio re-enters the animus and continues to progress through Küpeyakwüskonam's memories.
It is late 1694, Küpeyakwüskonam and Ramona are somewhere in the wilderness on a cliff top with a thick pile of leaves at the bottom. The relationship between the two has become less hostile as Küpeyakwüskonam expresses apprehension at jumping off the cliff into the leaf pile. It is revealed that Ramona is teaching him the Leap of Faith. Through narration Küpeyakwüskonam reveals that Ramona had told him the nature of the Assassins and Templars, their history, ideology, structure, as well as the Precursors and their technology, further reinforcing his desire to remove the Templars from his land.
Ramona reveals the importance and value of the Leap of Faith, and how its useful if he is ever in need of a quick getaway. As warriors, they both know they need to overcome their fear in every fight, this is no different. She demonstrates the Leap of Faith for him, landing in the leaf pile before instructing Küpeyakwüskonam to take the plunge. After a few moments of anticipation, Küpeyakwüskonam finds his nerve and makes a running leap and lands in the leaf pile before emerging in total surprise of his survival.
Küpeyakwüskonam comments at how over the months he has noticed that Ramona has covertly been teaching him skills utilised by the Assassins. He admits that he respects their goal of freewill, however, he does not want to join the Brotherhood as his duty to his people will triumph over the Assassin mission. Going on to thank her for the additional skills however, Ramona acknowledges and respects his choice.
Chapter 10[]
A few hours later, the two are perched within the treetops as it is revealed the reason they were in the frontiers. They discovered that where they were, was a route that French soldiers patrolled through on occasion. The Assassin and warrior planned to retrieve information on the soldier named D'aureville. Once the next patrol travelled through, the two ambush the soldiers, killing all but one. With the remaining one left alive, Ramona interrogates him asking for information on D'aureville. The soldier gives up the information, revealing D'aureville's full name and rank as General Stéphane D’aureville. The Assassin inquires further about D'aureville's whereabouts but the soldier is unaware of where the Colonel is being stationed at.
Küpeyakwüskonam then kills the soldier with his hidden blade much to Ramona's disapproval. He argues that if they were to let him leave, he was certain to tell his superiors of what had transpired, giving D'aureville the warning that they were coming for him. Still frustrated at his actions, the two go on their way to look for more information on General D'aureville.
In spring 1695, Küpeyakwüskonam and Ramona infiltrate a French fort and sneak their way into the general's quarters, hoping to find evidence of correspondence between the two generals. Ramona learns that the general is also a Templar and that evidence of a Precursor site had been located, fitting the description of the Eden Engine's resting place. D'aureville's official cover was to find and ally with other indigenous tribes, Küpeyakwüskonam takes note of one of the tribes D'aureville is set to visit - being his own band located in the Algoma District. Assassinating the Templar, Küpeyakwüskonam rushes off and makes his way back to his village on horseback, worrying for their safety. Ramona quickly follows suit.
A few days later, the pair arrive at Küpeyakwüskonam's village. Seeing that his village remains safe fills him with a sense of relief, the other villagers are happy to see him and greet him with open arms but express distrust of Ramona. Küpeyakwüskonam assures them that Ramona is to be trusted and show her respect, Mahikan arrives and greets his son, happy to see he is alive and safe. Küpeyakwüskonam updates Mahikan on his progress before going to find Sâkowêw. He finds her wigwam and discovers in the time he was gone, she married Macquettoquet and had a child with him. Heartbroken at this revelation, he returns to his father - informing him of another impending attack by the French.
Mahikan acknowledges this, and with the help of Ramona they begin preparations to defend the village. Küpeyakwüskonam and Ramona come up with a plan for Mahikan to attempt to stall the French with negotiations, while they tried to reach higher ground and assassinate him.
A day later, General D'aureville arrives with his small band of soldiers in tow. Mahikan meets with D'aureville, placing him into position to be assassinated but Küpeyakwüskonam and Ramona are spotted in the trees by one of the soldiers and Ramona's attempt to assassinate D'aureville fails. D'aureville orders his men to begin the attack before brandishing an Eden Engine, Ramona quickly deduces that there must be more than one Eden Engine if D'aureville already has one and is searching for another. Reacting quickly Küpeyakwüskonam shoots an arrow at D'aureville's hand, knocking the Eden Engine from his arm. Releasing a small discharge, the Eden Engine wipes out a quarter of Küpeyakwüskonam's village, killing many warriors and French soldiers alike. However, D'aureville awakens and flees with the others before Küpeyakwüskonam and Ramona could give chase.
Küpeyakwüskonam finds the body of Mahikan amidst those that were killed by the Eden Engine's small explosion, cradling his body. Over the next few days, Küpeyakwüskonam's village holds two ceremonies, the Wake and Round Dance to comemmorate those who lost their lives in Néhinaw tradition. Following that, Ramona consoles Küpeyakwüskonam followed by the arrival of Macquettoquet and Sâkowêw who express their condolences. Küpeyakwüskonam is visibly distant but tries to hide his feelings as the two are completely unaware of his feelings for Sâkowêw.
After they leave, Ramona comments on his body language and questions if Küpeyakwüskonam has feelings for Sâkowêw. Evading the answer, Küpeyakwüskonam reminds her that they have Templars to hunt - commenting on his failure to protect his village, he can at least avenge them. Assuring him, Ramona tells him that if even one person remains standing, they can rebuild.
Chapter 11[]
Horatio is removed from the animus, confused as to why he was brought out of the simulation prematurely. Erica reveals that the Eden Engine that was shown in the feed of Küpeyakwüskonam's memories, she recognised it. She goes on to explain that she came across it when she was in Cuba during her gap year in college, Hayley adds that she's surprised that Abstergo didn't snag it but Jason added that Abstergo overlook Pieces of Eden from time to time. Horatio asks Erica whereabouts the Eden Engine was in Cuba with her answering that it was located within a museum last time she was there.
Gavin Banks acknowledges this and informs the group of an Assassin cell located in Santa Clara, Cuba led by Meaghan Allard, assuring them that he would contact her asking her to lend aid in their search. Erica uncharacteristically expresses her excitement to meet Meaghan and her cell, confused Horatio asks why with Hayley explaining that she is the descendant of legendary French Assassin Arno Dorian, and great-granddaughter of Isabelle Allard. With that, the Altaïr II makes its way to Cuba.
Meanwhile, in France, Leah removes herself from the animus and sends the footage of her session over to Abstergo. Some hours later, she receives a call from her superior who informs her of an Eden Engine's location in a natural history museum in Cuba, ordering her to meet Sigma Team over there and retrieve it. Oblidging, Leah takes a private jet over to meet them, leaving her team behind to watch over Ramona's crypt.
A day later, the Altaïr II docks in Havana and the team bids Gavin Banks and the other Assassins farewell, with Jennifer remaining behind at Horatio's wishes due to the risks of going up against Abstergo. They then rent an RV and making their way over to Santa Clara to meet Meaghan Allard and her cell. A few hours later, they arrive at the cooridinates just outside of Santa Clara, where Allard's camp should be located, and upon arrival the group are met with hostility by Allard's team. Threatening to open fire, Hayley implores for them to listen and informs them that they are Assassins and Gavin Banks should have notified them. Horatio brandishes his hidden blade, ready to engage but tensions are eased when Meaghan orders her team to stand down.
With the arrival of Meaghan and the threat of combat at rest, Hayley introduces herself as the leader of her cell as well as its members with Meaghan doing the same. Horatio asks what Banks had told her before their arrival, Meaghan explains that she was already aware of the Assassins top priority to locate Kyle North and the other Isu, and that Gavin explained that they'd found something that could throw a wrench in the Isu's plans. Horatio then reveals the nature of an Eden Engine, at least what they've learned so far, and that it was allegedly located in Municipal Museum Emilio Bacardi Moreau, Santiago de Cuba. Hayley is quick to assume that Abstergo are hot on its tail as well and need to work fast.
The Assassins begin to formulate a plan with Meaghan proposing that they utilise guerrilla tactics to combat any potential enemies there and retrieve the Engine. Jason and Erica motion to remain at the camp and provide tactical support for the Assassins going into the field consisting of Horatio, Meaghan, Hayley, Jacob Richards, and more. The field Assassins set off for Santiago de Cuba, during the drive Horatio and Meaghan learn more about each other with him learning of her status as an Assassin activist. Expressing his desire to do the same, he laments that it feels that all he does nowadays is "go treasure hunting for Pieces of Eden".
Meaghan notices that Horatio has been extremely focused on finding the Eden Engine and whenever the name "Kyle" or "North" is mentioned, his body language completely shifts to hostility. Reluctantly, Horatio confesses to her that North murdered his father in front of his eyes a month prior, revealing to her his vow to kill him when the opportunity came.
Chapter 12[]
Arriving at the museum 3 hours later. Scouting atop a nearby rooftop opposite of the museum, the Assassins spot evidence of Abstergo's presence within the vicinity. As an expert in guerrilla tactics, Meaghn lays out a plan of action which first involved them utilising stealth to infiltrate the museum. Meanwhile, the focus shifts to Leah Alvarez and Juhani Otso Berg inside the museum searching for the Eden Engine. Leah questions why Abstergo never claimed the Piece of Eden, Berg explains that Abstergo was aware of its existence but it appeared deactivated and of little use to the company. Now, through Ramona's memories, they realise they were wrong. Leah expresses her surprise at Abstergo overlooking the Piece of Eden.
Their conversation is interrupted by the sound of gunfire and members of Sigma Team crying out, Berg demands to know the status of the situation to which one responds "Goddamn Assassins!" before being killed over the radio. Berg orders Leah to retrieve the Eden Engine while he and the other members of Sigma Team engage the Assassins. Returning the focus back to Horatio, Meaghan and the other Assassins, Meaghan and Hayley remain to press on their surprise attack and tell Horatio to look for the Eden Engine.
With the arrival of Berg, Meaghan recalls how the Templar desecrated her great-grandmother's remains and moves in to engage him, meanwhile Hayley and the other members of Meaghan's cell fight to repel Sigma Team. Leah locates the Eden Engine but before she can retrieve it, she is suddenly halted by the arrival of Kyle North, Shakuru and the Isu who had located the Eden Engine through as of yet unknown methods. North attacks Leah but she manages to hold her own as a result of the Bleeding Effect, but she is quickly defeated. Moments from being killed, Leah is unintentionally saved by Horatio who launches a throwing knife at the Sage, still vengeful over the death of his father.
Horatio and North briefly duel but the Assassin is knocked into a weapon display. Utilising the historical weaponry within the museum, he picks out a sword and a kukri blade before attacking North once more. Meanwhile, Shakuru orders the other Isu to engage with the Assassins and Templars a few floors below them. She attempts to steal the Eden Engine but Leah delays her by attacking - surprisingly, Shakuru has some knowledge of ancient Isu martial arts and fights back against the Templar.
The gruelling fight continues between Horatio, North, Leah and Shakuru. However, Meaghan and Hayley's duel with Berg manages to find its way to the others, creating a chaotic three way fight between the Assassins, Templars and Isu. The Assassins prove a more formidable force through the tactics taught to them by Meaghan, as well as their unifed front as opposed to the disjointed cooperation between Berg and Leah, and the undisciplined Isu.
Horatio is able to manipulate North's emotional weakness by injuring Shakuru by throwing a kukri blade at her thigh. Distracted, North disengages and attacks Leah before she could deal a finishing blow to an injured Shakuru. Remembering her mission, Leah manages to retrieve the Eden Engine. Horatio attempts to seize the opportunity to kill North and Shakuru, avenging his father, but Meaghan notices this and reminds him of what's more important - keeping the Engine out of both the Isu and Templar hands. Snapping out of it, Horatio gives chase to Leah while suggesting that the other Assassins retreat for now.
Catching up to Leah, the two engage in a short fight with Horatio coming out on top as the more skilled of the two. Retrieving the Eden Engine, he bolts toward the nearest window breaking through it and performing a Leap of Faith into a pile of leaves. Rendezvousing with the others, they begin the drive back to Meaghan's camp. Meaghan asks what Horatio and the others will do now, Horatio examines the Eden Engine that is now glowing at his touch, signifying his Isu DNA activating it. Without answering, he hands it to her and watches as it remains activated in her grasp and she shows no ill effects. The two share a knowing look, acknowledging their unique ancestry.
Horatio then offers the Eden Engine to her, telling her that there are more that need to be found and that while they were both targets for Abstergo, he believed it would be safer with her. Giving her the option to do whatever she wished with it, trusting she would be responsibile with its fate.
After arriving back at Meaghan's camp, Horatio and his cell remain their for a day before saying their goodbyes to Meaghan and her cells, continuing their hunt for the remaining two Eden Engines. However, before leaving, Horatio promises his aid if she ever needed his help with anything.
Chapter 13[]
After departing Meaghan's camp, Horatio and the others take shelter at a motel in the city. There, they plot their next move deducing that another Eden Engine and its whereabouts must be hidden in Küpeyakwüskonam's memories. With that, Horatio elects to return to the animus and continue exploring through his ancestor's memories.
Meanwhile, Leah is being reprimanded by Otso Berg for allowing the Assassins to escape with the Eden Engine, as well as allow North to escape with the Isu. She aplogises to Berg for her failure, promising to make it up to him. Berg states that he will return to France with her and personally oversee the conclusion of Ramona's memories.
