Assassin's Creed: Rupture is a 2023 action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft, and the fifteenth main installment in the Assassin's Creed franchise. The game follows three protagonists: the Secotan warrior Ketiwa of the 1570s, the French Assassin Charles Dorian of the 1770s, and the American Assassin John Pravar of the 1940s, all of whom lives are being lived by Jenson Vega in the modern day in order.

Gameplay[]

Weaponry[]

Assassin's Creed: Rupture features three characters, each with a variety of skills and tools that make them distinct from one another. Ketiwa, for example, makes use of bow and arrow, as well as the arquebus (Spanish musket). For melee combat, Ketiwa aquires Peskalewa's Spear early in the campaign, though also uses clubs and tomahawks. She also uses a variety of tools such as knives and the camouflage blanket, which is used in the Outer Banks.

Charles Dorian sees the return of the Phantom Blade from Assassin's Creed: Unity, albeit a weaker and louder variant of it. Dorian also uses one-handed swords and flintlock pistols. Dorian also makes use of the double saddle pistols, allowing him to perform multi-kill combos in combat. In terms of tools, Dorian can attach bayonets to the end of rifles aquired by enemies, turning them into melee weapons. Some rifles already have bayonets. Smoke bombs also make a return, as well as cherry bombs to lure enemies when whistling isn't an option.

John Pravar wields the powerful M1 Garand, a fast semi-automatic rifle used to gun down enemy soldiers. Pravar's Remington 31 helps eliminate enemies up close. The trench knife is Pravar's go-to melee weapon, and Pravar makes use of tools such as the med-kit for quick, full bar healing, as well as the grenade, which acts in a similar function to the grenade launcher and guillotine gun from Rogue and Unity.

All three use the Hidden Blade, although Ketiwa does not start with one, and instead gains one later. The ability to pick up weapons from fallen enemies also returns. Looting resembles that of older games. Due to the time period, John Pravar does not have a currency system. Instead, any weapons picked up from enemies can be kept in a new inventory, which can be upgraded by completing special missions.

In terms of setting, Ketiwa lives in 16th century Southern Colonies, with access to two regions: the Outer Banks and St. Augustine. Hunting is prominent in the Outer Banks, allowing for crafting different camoflage blankets and accessories from pelts of rabbit, herons, foxes, sea turtles, and more. Charles Dorian, in 18th century France and America explores the shores of Normandy, pre-Revolution Paris, the city of Philadelphia, and the Chesapeake Bay region, which is significantly larger than the other two. Charles is also able to sail Normandy and the Chesapeake Bay with his ship, the Protégé, in which a team of ten can be assembled in a similar fashion to Odyssey, though crew members must be recruited through taverns and other means, and not by knocking out enemies. John Pravar, meanwhile, explores Hawaii, the Pacific Islands, the Philippines, and Japan. Having the most land of all the playable characters, Pravar also has the most mobility, being able to sail naval ships and fly planes.

Missions[]

The DNA tracker from older games make a return, allowing players to track their progress separately for each character.

Black Box missions from Unity and Siege of Paris return, giving players more chances for unique assassinations. Optional challenges from past games also make a return, though are used to earn special rewards and are not needed for percentage.

The Memory Corridor once again makes a return, variating between Ketiwa, Charles Dorian, and John Paravar's targets.

Plot[]

The game begins with a new, never seen before protagonist, Jenson Vega, who works for the modern day Assassins Shaun Hastings, Rebecca Crane, and William Miles. Vega was sent by the Assassins to break into the modern-day Templar front Abstergo, to which he did so successfully. Pretending to be a worker, Vega now has access to Helix, a software that allows him to access the library of dozens of stories of past Templars and Assassins. Vega's task is to use Helix to hopefully find information on previous Assassins or Templars that have modern day descendants.

Vega is given three characters that have confirmed modern day descendants, though it is impossible to find them without knowing their bloodline. Fortunately, Vega only needs to sync the three programs enough to a point where it can be transferred back to Hastings, Crane, and Miles. The first individual Vega views is Ketiwa, a Secotan warrior in the middle of a battle against the Bear River Natives of Raudauquaquank. Ketiwa returns home to speak with her village chief, Peskalewa, on the successful raid with their rivals. However, the conversation is interrupted by the alarm horn, indicating an invading tribe. Ketiwa leaves and expects the Bear River tribe to have counterattacked, though instead finds the peaceful Chowanoke, whose chief, Chief Menatonon, speaks with Peskalewa on an alliance against incoming English settlers, backed by the Templar Order, who seeks to establish a presence in the New World before their counterparts, the Assassins, can.

Over the next few years, Ketiwa silently stalks any Englishmen that sets foot in the area, slowly learning their language. One day, however, she is captured by the Bear River tribe and brought back to the village of Raudauquaquank. She silently attempts to escape, though is caught by Mahkate, the man responsible for capturing her. The two battle and Ketiwa successfully defeats Mahkate, showing him mercy as she leaves the village. However, as she returns home, she finds her village ransacked, with houses burned to the ground and blood everywhere. Ketiwa rushes in and tries to save the remaining villagers, mainly Chief Peskalewa. However, he has been killed, impaled and on the ground. Next to him is an Assassin insignia carved into the ground. Ketiwa memorizes that symbol and swears revenge.

Vega is then transported out of Ketiwa's life. At Abstergo, Vega sneaks around, continuing to speak to other people working with Helix. Upon returning, he is transported into the life of Charles Dorian, French Assassin and father of Arno Dorian. Charles is an apprentice of Assassin Pierre Bellec, and has grown close with the Assassin Council of Paris. One day, Charles and Pierre are sent on a mission to the newly established United States to hunt down Magdelaine Lévesque, a French Templar who is paying a visit to the Colonial Templars. Pierre is reluctant to return to the colonies after witnessing the colonial purge initiated by the previous American Grand Master, Haytham Kenway, and his ally Shay Cormac. After hearing good news of his old friend Achilles, Pierre grows hopeful and travels with Charles in hopes of reviving the Brotherhood in America.

After a two month long journey, the two arrive in America, specifically the city of Philadelphia. The two begin searching for clues to Magdelaine Lévesque's whereabouts, eavesdropping around town. Charles eventually picks up a lead - a tavern fight occurred three days ago, and a Templar cross was found at the scene. Charles heads to the tavern and investigates the scene. After piecing together what happened, he interrogates the bartender, who tells Charles that the two men involved was a muscular American sailor and a French soldier. Charles reports back to Pierre, who decides to investigate a nearby French fort. Charles is given the easier task - the city's dockyard. After snooping around, Charles finds the sailor, a man named Benjamin Williams. Williams does not show any signs of affiliation with the Templars, and only fought back in the tavern after being provoked by the soldier: Louis le Blanc. Charles quickly travels to the French fort and finds Pierre waiting outside. The two, both being Frenchmen, infiltrate the fort without problems. Charles finds and lures le Blanc to the fort's warehouse, where he attempts to assassinate him but fails. The two engage in combat and Pierre kills le Blanc instead, only to realize that he had connections to the Union Fire Company, an Assassin-allied fire department. Le Blanc was not the Templar.

Vega is then transported into the life of John Pravar - a WWI veteran who lost his entire battalion to the Templar-backed Central Powers. Pravar was inducted into the Assassin Brotherhood by Master Assassin Douglas MacArthur. In the Pacific, tensions rose as Japan and it's sphere of influence, as a result of imperialism, slowly crept closer and closer towards U.S. lands, culminating with the attack on Pearl Harbor. Pravar awakes one morning on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii to a bombing. Japanese bomber planes were attacking. Pravar was on the USS California along with his friend Thomas Reeves. The two attempt to evacuate everyone on board, though Japanese torpedo hits the hull of the ship, shaking the entire deck and causing Reeves to fall overboard. Pravar rushes to his friend though is unable to find him in the chaos. Dozens of planes fly all around him and Pravar realizes that he has no choice but to escape.

Pravar sees a nearby Japanese plane quite close to the ship. He runs and jumps off of the California, landing on the wing of the bomber plane as it is flying. Pravar is not safe for long, however. A missile comes flying in, destroying the plane and causing Pravar to fall off, barely hanging on to life. Pravar hits the ground and is unconscious. When he awakes, the attack is over and a group of medics surround him, telling him the news - the U.S. has declared war on Japan. Pravar spends the next few days in the hospital when he suddenly receives a mysterious note near his bedside from a fellow Assassin, asking to meet in Australia. Pravar meets with Assassin Lewis Brereton and Master Assassin Douglas MacArthur, and the three discuss what to do next. Brereton controls a series of B-17 Flying Fortresses stationed at Clark Field, an air force base in the Philippines. Brereton asked for permission to strike nearby Japanese air force bases, though MacArthur denied his request, as there were various Assassins hiding throughout the country, and any threat of bombs would risk their lives lost.

MacArthur instead sent Pravar to infiltrate one Japanese air base in hopes of finding information on when the Japanese would attacked. Rushed, Pravar quickly flies to the Philippines, where he maintains radio with Brereton, who urges him to cause a commotion. However, abiding by the Brotherhood's laws, Pravar silently infiltrates the facility and locates the commander. Trained in Japanese, Pravar overhears the commander stating that the attack had already begun. He was too late. Clark Field was under attack.

Vega is transported out of the Helix with enough memory to successfully bring back to the Assassins. The three successfully manage to determine who the descendants are, though the job is not done yet. Helix also hides many secrets, some that make the Assassins look bad. In order to fully understand their full stories, Vega must make use of the Animus, which he does for each Assassin in order to find more about the Assassin Brotherhood.

Ketiwa[]

Ketiwa seeks refuge in Chowan, village of the Chowanoke. Ketiwa masters use of the bow and arrow, as well as the Spanish weapon, the musket. With Spain to the East and incoming English to the west, the Natives are weak. Ketiwa soon finds a group of Secotan warriors that escaped the burning of the village. Led by the warrior Wingina, a strong leader that welcomed Ketiwa into the group. The three plotted to take revenge on Sir Richard Grenville, the one responsible for burning their village. One of Wingina's scouts, Wakalba, reports that a group of English hunters have just been spotted walking nearby. To test the newcomer's ability, Winginia sends Ketiwa solo to handle the Englishmen, with the rest of the rebels trailing closely behind.

Ketiwa investigates nearby hunting grounds and eventually finds the hunting party, walking north towards Chowan. Eager to protect her new home, Ketiwa attacks and kills the group. For the next few weeks, Ketiwa remains with the Secotan rebels, checking in on Chowan every now and then. One day, however, Wingina and his group goes missing. Wakalba finds Ketiwa and states that Wingina has been captured by the Spanish and brought to La Mejor, a Spanish encomienda near the Tar River. Wingina travels to the encomienda alone, battling the Spanish slavers. She liberates the enslaved Natives but is unable to find Ketiwa and his allies. She does, however, find a note with a familiar symbol - the one drawn at the site of her village's burning.

Ketiwa is unable to read what the note says, though she takes it to Chowanoke Chief Menatonon for safekeeping. Menatonon mentions that Chowan once had an interpreter that understood Spanish, though he had been taken by the Spanish a long time ago. Hanging on to the last hope for revenge, Ketiwa begins asking around the village, soon finding the interpreter's name: Fimpar. Ketiwa investigates Fimpar's house, soon finding a note alongside a strange pendant (that of a Templar cross). The note was in Spanish, though mentioned the name of Spanish city down south - St. Augustine.

Ketiwa travels to St. Augustine, and to her surprise, the Spanish allow the Natives to roam freely within the city. Ketiwa soon finds Fimpar and asks him to come home, though he refuses, stating that his new life with the Spanish is much more beneficial to him and his dreams. Ketiwa requests that Fimpar translates the note, which he does - the symbol belonged to the Assassin Brotherhood, a secret society in which Wingina was apart of. Confused as to why Wingina would destroy his own village, Ketiwa set off to find him in the St. Augustine Bureau.

Upon arriving at the Bureau, Ketiwa stalks around before finding a way in through a nearby hidden entrance. She stumbles upon an ongoing meeting. Wingina is nowhere to be seen, but Ketiwa does hear a familiar voice: Wakalba. Ketiwa busts in on the meeting, knife in hand as she threatens the mysterious group in confusion. Wakalba introduces Ketiwa to the leader of the group - Pedro Menéndez de Avilés, founder and governor of the city.

Menéndez explains everything. Wingina is Menéndez's second-in-command, and they had tried their best to protect the village from the English. The English, backed by the Assassin's ancient enemies the Templars, planted the symbol to purposefully trick survivors such as Ketiwa and turn them against the Assassins. Ketiwa swears revenge on the Templars and asks to join the Assassin Brotherhood, though Menéndez states that she must be properly trained first. Both Wingina and Wakalba offer to train her, though Menéndez chooses to personally train Ketiwa himself, sensing potential in the young girl.

Ketiwa is trained by Menéndez, eventually becoming a skilled apprentice. After two months of training, Menéndez decides it is time to initiate Ketiwa into the Brotherhood. After the initiation, Menéndez sent her to the St. Augstine tailor and had her crafted a new Assassin suit. Officially apart of the Assassins, Ketiwa is given her first target: George Stewart, an English merchant at the docks of St. Augustine who is believed to be conspiring with Templars. Because Menéndez can't risk killing a St. Augustine citizen in public, he has long been hesitant on assassinating Stewart.

Ketiwa finds and kills Stewart at his house. She gains a lead on the English Templars - Stewart was selling silk to the English, a valuable material in the Old World. Ketiwa returns to the Bureau and reports to Wingina, as Menéndez is gone. Wingina mentions that a group of Bear River natives was spotted on the southern end of St. Augustine. Intrigued as to what they were doing so far south, Ketiwa and Wingina investigate. When they arrive to the southern end of the village, they find the sight of a massacre. Dozens of civilians were slaughtered, with one hung from a signpost. Ketiwa examines the body when she is shot with a bow and arrow.

Five Bear River archers in English clothing appear on the rooftops, including Ketiwa's old archenemy Mahkate. Ketiwa chases them down while Wingina remains to defend from any more invaders. Ketiwa eliminates all the archers except Mahkate, who escapes. When the two reunite, they find Menéndez, who states that the invaders were likely working for the English. The two Native Assassins sense it is time to return north to the Outer Banks, and bid farewell to their Master. Before leaving, Ketiwa receives a gift from Menéndez - a Hidden Blade.

Ketiwa and Wingina find Wakalba and the three return home. Upon arriving at Secotan, they see some other Secotan rebels have rebuilt the village. Ketiwa and Wingina soon travel to Chowan, where they find a shocking surprise - English colonizers have inhabited the village. The Chowanoke population is lower, and even Chief Menatonon has lost power to a man named James Bowen. Suspicious of his potential affiliation to Templars, Ketiwa locates and stalks Bowen, who, sure enough, talks to Chief Menatonon and attempts to convince him to join the Order. When the chief refuses, Bowen slashes his neck before sending him away.

The next day, Ketiwa finds and frees Menatonon. The chief speaks to Wingina and urges not to kill Bowen, as it would destroy relations with the tribe and the settlers. However, Wingina reminds him that there were never relations to begin with. Ketiwa is sent into the village and eventually finds and assassinates Bowen. In his final moments, Bowen reveals that the English are not the only Templars. As Ketiwa walks to Wingina, she ponders the Templars' final words, finally realizing who else he meant - the Bear River Natives.

Ketiwa rushes back to Wingina, and upon returning finds that both Wingina and Menatonon have been attacked by the Bear River natives, led by Mahkate. Mahkate slashes Wingina's leg and causes him to crumble to the ground. Ketiwa rushes to fight Mahkate though the sly warrior escapes. Ketiwa tends to her friend and Menatonon, the latter dying to his wounds.

In the following months, English forces continue to arrive in the Outer Banks region, now establishing a settlement at the edge of the Albemarle Sound near the ruins of Secotan. The establishment is led by Ralph Lane, with aid from Sir Richard Grenville, the same man who burned Ketiwa's home. Wingina has reestablished the village, becoming King of the Secotan. His brother Granganimeo leads a military faction to maintain peace with the English. Meanwhile, Ketiwa herself continues to hunt down Mahkate in revenge. She is unsuccessful, however - Mahkate has seemingly mysteriously disappeared.

One day, Wingina and Ralph Lane attend a peace meeting. They both select one candidate to accompany them - Lane chooses Grenville and Wingina chooses Ketiwa. Seeing this as an opportunity to get revenge, the young Assassin wants to kill Grenville while they have the chance, though her superior reminds her that thu are seeking peace, not violence.

At the meeting, which is at a small hut in Roanoke, Lane and Wingina speak to one another as Ketiwa eyes Grenville. The two leaders establish borders and Lane promises not to expand any further. Lane also offers himself as a trade partner, though Wingina refuses, stating that they do not yet trust the English. Lane soon leaves the room, leaving the two Assassins with Grenville. The Englishman smiles and reveals that he knows the two are Assassins, himself being a Templar. Ketiwa lunges at Grenville, though the man defends himself and stabs the Assassin in the stomach. Wingina carries her out of the room, attempting to report to Lane, though Grenville exits as well, yelling to the villagers that the two Natives are threats. Everyone chases after Wingina, and Ketiwa soon falls unconscious.

Vega transported out of the Animus, and concludes that there is a three-month gap in memories, likely the amount of time Ketiwa was unconscious. Vega returns to an awaking Ketiwa in St. Augustine. She is treated by a Spanish surgeon named Rico Valientaire. Ketiwa asks Rico how she ended up in St. Augustine, and where the governor was. Rico explains that a group of Secotan Natives, likely Wingina, brought her here, and that Menéndez had left to explore further south. St. Augustine thrived in the past months, though Rico explains that English villagers have been caught sneaking into the city. With the possibility of some of them belonging to Grenville and his Templars, Ketiwa investigates.

Soon enough, Ketiwa encounters a Templar bandit meeting with her old enemy Mahkate. Ketiwa follows the two to a St. Augustine warehouse, where they meet with a third man, a Spaniard in dark, conquistador armor. The bandit is identified as Alejandro Lunasangre, and the Spaniard's name is unknown. The three mention a boss, nicknamed "The Tyrant," who Ketiwa can only assume to be Grenville. Suddenly, the platform Ketiwa is hiding on squeaks, and the three Templars spot her. Mahkate dismisses the two and chases Ketiwa herself. After escaping Mahkate, Ketiwa returns to Rico.

Weeks later, with zero success in finding any more Templars, Ketiwa returns home to Secotan. Wingina is nowhere to be found, though Ketiwa speaks with Granganimeo, who has devised a plan to remove the English settlers without losing any blood: they are to simply cut supplies that are being imported into the colony enough to the colonists dread their conditions and head home. Ketiwa suggests they pin the blame on the Bear River Natives as well, to knock two birds with one stone.

Ketiwa begins the operation when Wingina gets back. She is given three tasks - to secure an alliance with a nearby tribe the Paspatank, to steal supplies from Raudauquaquank, and to defeat the various hunting groups coming from Roanoke. After completing all tasks, the plan is set into motion. Roanoke begins to dwindle, running out of supplies. Granganimeo soon forms an alliance of Secotan, Chowanoke, and Paspatank warriors and decides to deliver the final blow himself. Ketiwa, joined by Wingina and Wakalba, meet with Granganimeo and devise a plan to attack and destroy the colony.

As they march toward the village, however, neither Lane nor Grenville are present. The Natives attacked the colony, destroying any supplies available and leaving behind Bear River artifacts in their wake. Nearly a week after the attack, Ketiwa investigates the colony once more to find Grenville riding to Lake Phelps. Ketiwa followers Grenville and his men to the lake, where she stalks a meeting between Grenville, Mahkate, Alejandro, and another Native Templar who Ketiwa had never seen before. The Native appears to be the leader of the group, and expresses disappointment in the three's work in securing Roanoke. Grenville then reveals that the Bear Rivers attacked Roanoke, to which Mahkate denies. Not knowing who to trust, the Templar leader angrily ends the arguement by stabbing Mahkate in the stomach. He then threatens to do the same to Grenville if Roanoke fails.

After the Templars leave, Ketiwa returns to Wingina to tell him of the news.

Charles Dorian[]

Charles and Pierre return to the dock, though Williams is gone. As they leave, the two are ambushed by Templar Extremists, a faction from France that were sent to America. Charles and Pierre defeat the extremists and interrogate one last one, who states that Williams traveled south. The two ride south and eventually catch up with Williams, who has taken refuge in a tobacco plantation. Charles finds and assassinates Williams, who was working with Magdelaine Lévesque in order to smuggle extremists into the colonies under request of Grand Master Haytham Kenway.

Charles wants to see an end to Haytham, though Pierre argues that they are not here for Haytham, only to end Lévesque. Charles is unknowing of Pierre's past history with the Colonial Templars, and how he had witnessed Haytham slaughter hundreds to kill the Assassins. Out of fear, Pierre urges Charles not to pursue Haytham any further, a request that he obeys. Fearing the extremists would get in the way of colonial affairs, Pierre sought to remove the remaining extremists in the city. Charles finds and assassinates their captain, finding a note that gets them closer to Lévesque.

Lévesque plans to travel to South America in search of First Civilization artifacts. Pierre was surprised, mentioning that Parisian Templars have stopped caring about the First Civilization since the days of Jacques de Molay. Charles and Pierre boarded a ship called the Thronecaller, captained by a man named Jackson Miles. Miles and the Assassins tail Lévesque's ship, and Charles is eventually given control of the ship, with Miles helping him steer and attack. They engage Lévesque's ship, the Protégé, in combat, and eventually board it. Charles finds and assassinates Magdelaine Lévesque, who, in her final moments, shows anger in the Assassins disrupting her plans.

Charles eventually takes control of the Protégé, claiming it for himself under Pierre's recommendation. Lévesque death puts an end to colonial-French Templar connections, though it is not the end of the French Templars. The two bid farewell to Miles and sail back to France, docking on the shores of Normandy before making their way to Assassin Council, which had five seats: Guillaume Beylier, Hervé Quemar, Eric-Joseph Claude d'Abbadie, Jacques-Gloire de La Vérendrye, and Pierre Feu. Upon speaking with the council, their is a very obvious sensation of distress among the council. d'Abbadie explains what had happened. Jean Éclabousser was a former Assassin who quit the Brotherhood due to her conflicting ideologies. Jean believed that the Assassins intention to murder Templars, innocent or not, broke her morals and thus she threatened to rat out the Brotherhood to the public.

Jean is only assigned to Charles, however, as Pierre is given a different target. Charles sets off through Paris, though it is too late - Jean's campaign has already begun. Posters are put up throughout the city exposing the Assassins, mentioning that they were responsible for various murders of figures, including Lévesque, who was known for her lavish parties in Paris. Charles tears down the posters and bribes heralds and paperboys, eventually tracking down one of the largest newspaper companies, Presse Populaire Normande, to a house in Normandy. Charles travels to Normandy and infiltrates the house, which is overrun with extremist soldiers. He investigates various different papers but is unable to find what he is looking for. On his way out, however, he hears two extremists entering and hides in a closet.

He hears one of them mention an Assassin turncoat, likely Jean, has been put above them. Both men express their jealousy, though continue to speak of their plans. One of the men reveals himself as Joseph Cartalier, Prince des Hors-la-loi. Both men are Templars, and Cartalier soon leaves to his ship and departs Normandy. Charles stalks the other man to his home, eventually finding his name to be Mathieu Char. Charles returns to the council with two major pieces of information.

Jacques-Gloire mentions that he has gained more info on Éclabousser and has decided to send one of his apprentices, Angela Espèces, to hunt down Éclabousser alone. Meanwhile, Pierre Feu, leader of the Assassin Council, requests Charles' presence at the top of Hôtel de Ville. Charles tends to both. He gives Espèces the names of the two templars, and the young Assassin mentions that it is best to go for Char while Cartalier is absent from Normandy. The two visit Char's home, though he is nowhere to be found. The two wait at night in a nearby abandoned hut, where they train together, with Espèces teaching Charles how to better improve his freerunning and combat skills.

At night, Espèces catches Char returning to his home alongside a group of extremists. Espèces tells Charles to wait for Char to sleep before making the move. Espèces herself will cause a distraction at the front door. Charles sneaks through Char's house and eventually assassinating Char in his sleep. In his final moments, Char mentions that Cartalier won't be returning for a few months. In the meantime, Charles visits Feu at the top of Hôtel de Ville. Feu mentions that he senses potential in Charles, and warns him not to waste it. He also states that he purposefully separated Charles and Pierre in order to give Charles more experience on his own.

Feu challenges Charles to a duel on a nearby rooftop. When Charles defeats Feu, the latter grants the young Assassin a new gift - a prototype of a weapon Feu has been working on known as the Phantom Blade. After training Charles with the Phantom Blade, he introduces Charles to his own apprentice - Sophie Trenet. He then assigns the two their next assignment. Templar smugglers have been caught sneaking in and out the catacombs of Paris. Charles and Sophie must do his best to find what they are up to.

After finding and killing the extremists, Charles finds a letter written to a pseudonym, "The Minister." He reports to the Assassin Council, though none of them know anything of him. Pierre has returned from his assignment, and is joined alongside Espèces and Sophie. No signs of Éclabousser have been found, though it is almost definite that she has joined the Templars. Pierre demands to kill Éclabousser, stating that she is now a threat to the Brotherhood, though d'Abbadie argues otherwise, stating that Éclabousser could still be brought back to the Brotherhood.

Charles agrees with Pierre, stating that Éclabousser has crossed the line of return, and in turn Feu makes the decision final - the Assassin turncoat is to be eliminated, much to d'Abbadie's anger. In the following months, Charles and Pierre both work together to undo Éclabousser's publicity stunt, though no progress is made in actually finding the Templar herself. Charles does, however, manage to locate Cartalier, who has returned from his expedition.

Charles stalks Cartalier to Cour des Miracles. Cartalier meets with a group of bandits, who Charles assumes are Cartalier's minions. Cartalier states that they have managed to undermine the Assassin Council and have successfully located their whereabouts. After Cartalier leaves, Charles rushes back to the council. This time, all five agree that Cartalier is a threat and must be eliminated. The next few days are spent preparing - Assassin apprentices are recalled to the headquarters to prpeare for the attack. Meanwhile, Charles meets with Master d'Abbadie and Master Quemar, and the three discuss the dangers of keeping Éclabousser alive. d'Abbadie continues to believe Éclabousser can be reverted, while Quemar argues that she must be eliminated.

d'Abbadie brings up the Assassin-turncoat Shay Cormac - a powerful weapon that was taken under the wing of Haytham Kenway and manipulated against the Brotherhood, effectively eliminating all of them in the Americas. He fears that if Éclabousser continues to be antagonized, she may turn out the same way. Charles sides with d'Abbadie, stating that it would be irrational and unnecessary to kill her. Quemar reconsiders his decision and agrees with the two. Soon, Cartalier attacks. Pierre leads an Assassin strike force at the invading Templars, made of not only Cartalier and his bandits, but also Éclabousser herself and her extremists.

Pierre and Charles split up, the former going for Cartalier while the latter going for Éclabousser. When Charles chases Éclabousser to a nearby theater, he tries to convince her to return to the Assassins, stating that the Templars are a far more dangerous organization. Charles, who has never met Éclabousser personally, attempts to understand the Templar. Éclabousser then reveals that the Brotherhood forced her to kill her own brother, who had sided with the Templars. When she refused, another Assassin killed him. Charles is shocked at the revelation, though does not have time to react, as he hears scream coming from Pierre below.

Charles rushes to his mentor's aid. Cartalier and Pierre had engaged in a swordfight, though a bandit had shot Pierre in the shoulder. Charles turns to Cartalier and battles him. During the fight, the Prince des Hors-la-loi calls upon his bandit minions to help him fight. Charles soon eliminates the bandits and puts an to Cartalier. In his final moments, Cartalier states that the Templar ideology will always be superior to that of the Assassins, using Éclabousser as an example. Charles silences him and returns to Pierre, who is hurt. He carries him back to the Council, where Espèces tends to him.

Charles returns to the battle to see the Templars retreating. Assassin corpses litter the ground and Master Jacques-Gloire, who was present at the fight, helps carry them into the river. Upon returning to the council, the Master curses the Templars and states that Éclabousser must be eliminated, as she was the one who revealed the Assassin's location. d'Abbadie states otherwise and the two get into a fight, though Feu breaks it up.

In the following months, tensions rise in the Assassin Council over what to do with Éclabousser. Charles and Pierre, meanwhile, continue to hunt down the Templar herself. One day, Charles decides to question the council and tells them of his conversation with the Assassin traitor. Feu tells him the truth - that his predecessor, a man named Robert-François Damiens, was a radical leader who held an extreme hatred towards the Templars. Damiens was responsible for the death of Éclabousser's brother, who had affiliated with the Templars, and even went as far as to attempt to assassinate King Louis XV, who had small ties with the British Templars. This act eventually led to Damiens' execution, and many Assassins see him as a stain on the Brotherhood.

One day, Charles is called in by the council, who tells him of a possible lead on a Templar Grand Master named Marc Pierre de Voyer de Paulmy, who was believed to have died eight years prior. Charles, Pierre, and Espèces is sent to investigate a factory in Normandy, where a significant extremist increase has been noted. As they approach the factory, they find a man stalking a group of extremists. The man runs off and Charles chases after him, eventually catching him. The man reveals his name to be François de la Serre, and tells Charles that he is attempting to kill the extremist leader. Charles tells him who he is after, to which de la Serre reacts in shock, mentioning de Paulmy to be "a close friend."

On the way back, Charles finds his friends to be caught by the extremists. An extremist captain attacks Charles and de la Serre, while Espèces helps an injured Pierre leave. After defeating the extremists, Charles retreats and loses de la Serre. On their way out, an extremist sniper manages to shoot Espèces, causing her to fall to the ground. At the end of her life, Espèces apologizes to the Assassins for failing them. de la Serre manages to kill the sniper, though it is too late - Angela Espèces is dead.

Back at the council, Jacques-Gloire expresses anger at d'Abbadie for sending the Assassins into a Templar base, though d'Abbadie reminds him of the cost of war.

John Pravar[]

Pravar rushes to Clark Field, driving an hour to get to the base, though by then it is too late: the base was in ruins. Pravar once again meets with MacArthur to discuss the next plan of action. Angered by both Pearl Harbor and Clark Field, Pravar wants to attack the Japanese bases directly, though MacArthur reminds him to not let his emotions get in the way of his work. MacArthur also says that they are at a military disadvantage and must stall until reinforcements arrive.

Tensions rise throughout the next few months as the Assassins do nothing but watch as Japan destroys the Dutch East Indies. When Japan finally declares war on the Dutch, MacArthur allows Pravar to enter action and sends him to Tarakan, a resourceful island bound to be a target of the Templars. Not a day later, Japan attacks Tarakan, though Pravar's job is not to aid the Dutch - they know little of Pravar's presence on the island - but rather gain information on the Templars. Pravar soon gains a lead and flees the woretorn island, though, thirsty for revenge, attacks several Japanese soldiers on his way out.

When he returns to MacArthur, the latter condemns Pravar for attacking the Japanese, stating that Pravar was ordered exclusively to work from the shadows. Nevertheless, MacArthur understands his apprentice's anger. MacArthur leads Pravar back to his headquarters in Australia, where he introduces him to the Assassin Council, which he leads. MacArthur introduces his right hand man, Chester W. Nimitz, to Pravar, who has recently been promoted to Admiral.

Nimitz gives a brief presentation on the Ritterkreuz, also known as the Knight's Cross, the Templar face that backs both the Nazis and the Japanese. Bringing down the Knight's Cross is essential in ending the war, a war that the Templars initiated. Pravar then reveals to the Assassins of his intel he had gained on Tarakan - the Japanese planned to invade Port Moresby.

Pravar continues his service to the American Navy, eventually joining MacArthur at Port Moresby, New Guinea days later. The U.S. and Australia join forces, with the former sending two vessels - Yorktown and Lexington, to help. Both Assassins board Lexington. Over the following days, Japan sends aircrafts into the Pacific, bombing the Australian fleet. Pravar is soon granted permission by Captain Aubrey Fitch to fly an aircraft and bomb Japanese radio towers in mainland Australia in attempts of turning the tides.

On his way back, Pravar encounters a Japanese fighter jet, locking eyes with the pilot though not engaging in combat, Pravar returns to a destroyed Lexington. Most of the crew had been evacuated, with Fitch and MacArthur relocating to the Yorktown, where Pravar lands. Fitch mentions the Shōkaku, the Japanese vessel that attacked the Lexington. The squad soon picks up on a radio transmission from Kakuichi Takahashi - a Templar and bomberman speaking directly to the two Assassins. Takahashi threatens further attacks and states that the Templars are not scared to attack mainland America. Understanding Japanese, Pravar translates to MacArthur, though lies to Fitch.

Pravar, MacArthur, Fitch, and the Yorktown's Captain Frank Fletcher devise a plan. Fitch and Fletcher send an aerial strike on the Shōkaku while Pravar and MacArthur sneak onto the ship to kill their captain. The next day, they carry out their plan, with the Shōkaku suffering a significant amount of damage. Pravar infiltrates the damaged ship and battles a few Japanese guards before finding and assassinating Takahashi. In his final moments, Takahashi states that Pravar is fighting on the wrong theatre of war, and that if he truly wants to take down the Templars, he would have to fight the Nazis.

Pravar reports Takahashi's final words to MacArthur, who both agree that it is safe to remain in the Pacific and let the Western Assassins handle the Nazis. After the Battle of the Coral Sea, Pravar sneaks into a Templar meeting on a Japanese ship consisting of Tamon Yamaguchi, Chūichi Nagumo, Harukichi Hyakutake, and Shigekazu Shimazaki. Yamaguchi and Nagumo speak of their plan to invade Midway, an island that which, if acquired by the Japanese, would be dangerously close to Hawaii. Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto then enters the room as Pravar eavesdrops from an opening in the floor. The Admiral, whom Pravar assumes to be the Grand Master of the Templar Order, states that if successful, taking Midway would make up for the loss at Coral Sea. Yamamoto dismisses Hyakutake and Shimazaki and discusses the plan of action for the Battle of Midway. Yamaguchi is to focus on destroying the Yorktown, the vessel that had caused the Knight's Cross their loss at Coral Sea, while Nagumo was to lead a defensive campaign in case the Allies struck back.

Pravar leaves the meeting though not before he is caught by Yamamoto, who instantly shoots him in the back and knocks him to the ground. Pravar awakes in a Japanese jail cell a while later, though is missing all of his gear. He is unable to radio MacArthur and panics. Pravar soon finds away to escape the prison, though realizes he is on mainland Japan, and will never make it back to Midway in time.

After a couple days on the run, Pravar steals a fighter jet and escapes Japan, though not before being chased down by the Japanese. Pravar guns down the enemy aircrafts and is able to radio MacArthur on the ride home, both to warn him of Midway and to indicate that his plane is not a threat. Pravar lands and soon joins Master Nimitz at Midway. On the ride there, Pravar keeps in contact with MacArthur and speaks of Admiral Yamamoto and the four Japanese Templars he had encountered. MacArthur assures him that all of the Templars will pay for their actions.

On Hawaii, the Navy has successfully taken Pravar's warning and began preparing for the Japanese ambush by setting up one of their own. Pravar boards the Yorktown while Nimitz boards the USS Hornet. Pravar meets with Fletcher once again as they sail to the island of Midway. After an aircraft tram spots a threatening Japanese aircraft carrier, Pravar joins a crew of dive bombers to take out the ship, known as Soryu.

After the Soryu is handled, Pravar returns to his boat, though not before witnessing planes from the USS Enterprise destroying two other ships. There is one ship left - the Hiryu. Back at the Yorktown, Pravar takes a short break to relax when an announcement is made that planes have been spotted coming from the west. Pravar takes control of a machine gun and begins to shoot down incoming planes, successfully destroying a good amount with help from friendly aircrafts. However, the damage has been done. Pravar runs to the deck and begins taking off on another plane under Fletcher's orders. Pravar makes it off the Yorktown when it is attacked by two torpedos. Fletcher orders the crew to abandon the soon-to-be destroyed ship.

Pravar joins an air team from the Hornet and the Enterprise, heading towards the Hiryu. Pravar aims directly for the hull, dealing significant damage. With the combined effort of the three attacking forces, the Hiryu is soon brought down. The crew of the boat is seen fleeing, though it's captain, Yamaguchi, is nowhere to be seen. Pravar lands the plane on the fiery scene and soon finds Yamaguchi and assassinates him. Im his final moments, the Templar reveals it is too late, and that the Yorktown was already destroyed. Pravar assures him that the Yorktown, as well as the Hornet and the Enterprise, remained unhindered by his efforts.

Pravar returns to his plane and leaves to return to the still standing Yorktown, satisfied with his work. However, just as boat enters his field of vision, it is struck by a barrage of torpedos coming from Japanese submarines and is soon destroyed. Pravar leaves the scene with good news to report to the Assassins.
