"A nice little abode for our family to escape to when we wish to escape the eyes of the public."
―Elise de la Serre on the function of the Cabin, June 1801.

The Dorian Family Cabin is a small cabin and training ground resting on the northern shores of Lac du Bourget in southeastern France. Commissioned by Master Assassin Elise de la Serre in 1799, It was completed on May 18th, 1800, and Elise and Arno Dorian took up summer residence in it, frequently visiting it after long weeks of fieldwork. This would be a tradition continued by Francois Charles Dorian, their son, and descendants from his line would become owners upon the previous owner's death. The current owner of the property is Margaux Allard, who took control of the property upon the death of her mother, Isabelle, in 2013, and was the first Dorian to take up residence in the cabin in May of 2023.

Early History[]

As a gift for Arno and Elise for welcoming their son Francois into the world in 1799, Elise commissioned a lumber company to build them a cabin out on Lac du Bourget. Elise chose the location due to its natural beauty. Building of the cabin took five months, being christened on May 18th, 1800. It was the perfect hideout, covered by the thick trees and brush. Arno and Elise would frequently visit the cabin after long weeks of fieldwork to spend quality time with their children Francois and later Juliette. Upon their move to England in 1847, their son Francois would take up ownership of the cabin in that same year.

Three years after taking ownership, Francois would expand the cabin by two rooms on the ground level and added a basement vault to the property, storing his vast American Civil War collection and housing his Hidden Blade upon his retirement in 1868. Upon his death in 1886, his daughter Gabrielle took possession of the cabin and brought it up to modern times, with most work being done during the Great War from 1914-1918. In 1927, a second floor and a dock was added. When Gabrielle passed away in 1929, her eldest daughter Sara never wanted to inherit the cabin, so it was passed on to her younger daughter Annabelle, who did nothing with the property and only visited it sparingly, letting it go into a severe decline. The cabin would sustain some damage during World War 2, with a few Nazi soldiers leaving graffiti etched onto the wooden boards during their stay at the building, even going as far as using it as a brothel. The building lay derelict until Isabelle Allard, Annabelle’s granddaughter, took ownership of the cabin in 1955.

Isabelle's Ownership[]

In 1955, a year after Isabelle Allard ascended to the Mentorship of the Parisian Assassins, she discovered that she was next in line to inherit the property. Upon seeing the disheveled state of the property, Isabelle’s ex-husband Xavier began work on restoring the building as Isabelle was recovering from giving birth to her daughter Margaux. Over the course of the two-year restoration, Xavier replaced the plumbing in the bathroom and replaced the vandalized boards. The couple would frequent the property as a place of solace to get away from the public eye until their divorce in 1961.

Visit of Quin Williams[]

In July of 1961, while out at the cabin, Isabelle was visited by the Great Hermit Quin Williams, who had informed Isabelle that she had violated a verbal treaty between the Dorian Family and the House of Williams by visiting the Gauntlet’s resting place in Saskatchewan. After a failed attempt to get out of the conversation, Isabelle sat beside the elderly Quin, who explained all the events of the past to her. Hearing giggling, Alexandre and Margaux showed themselves. After an initial scolding, Quin suggested the children stay and ask questions about the conversation they eavesdropped on. Once the mini Q&A ended, Quin suggested that Isabelle be the one to make ends meet between the families, to which Isabelle replied that she could draft up an agreement with Vivian. Quin informed Isabelle to contact Felix Farias-Williams if there was any interest in reconciliation before leaving.

A few days later, Isabelle invited Vivian to the cabin to begin work on what would become the Lebret Agreement, signed in September of 1961 in Lebret, Saskatchewan, above the Gauntlet’s resting place.

Continued Additions[]

Isabelle, now married to her second husband Edouard Docieux, continued to upgrade the cabin by providing it with proper electrical power, venting, and lighting. In contrast, Isabelle would create a little area of cleared snow in front of the cabin on the frozen lake so the kids could play hockey, curling, or skating.

During her tenure of ownership of the cabin, Isabelle and Edouard would frequent the cabin, once again as a means to escape the public view, sometimes by themselves, where they had several romantic encounters, and family gatherings with their children, where they would play various sports and go swimming and fishing, as well as have a fair bit of sex.

After her infamous women’s rights protest in 1964, Isabelle served her eight-month sentence out at her cabin, writing folk songs on her guitar. It was also at this time that Isabelle discovered Francois’ vault underneath the cabin, which led to a deep fascination with the American Civil War. During her sentence, Isabelle was assaulted by then-colleague Diane Laurent over her role in the protest, concussing Isabelle and cutting her open hard way before Isabelle knocked Diane out with a hard left hook, leaving an indent of her wedding ring on Diane’s cheek.

Isabelle would also stay at the cabin in order to rehab her injuries, staying out there to follow a physiotherapy regimen to regain the function in her left arm after the assassination attempt in August of 1965 ruptured her radial nerve and in 1967 after suffering two herniated disks in her neck.

Margaux was known to have had a few ‘parties’ out at the cabin in the early 70’s, nearly destroying the cabin, much to Isabelle’s chagrin.

Upon Isabelle's retirement from the Order in 1984, Isabelle would continue to frequent the cabin more often in order to get away from the populace and focus on writing her memoirs.

Margaux's Ownership[]

In 2014, shortly after her mother’s death, Margaux Allard took ownership of the cabin and land surrounding it. In 2015, Margaux hired contractors to add windows to the upper level of the cabin and to update the plumbing, bringing it up to modern standards. During Margaux’s time of ownership, the upper level of the cabin has also served as a recording studio as well, with Meaghan Allard recording several songs for albums she has been working on with her bands in 2023.

In May of 2023, Margaux announced her retirement from the Assassin Order at a meeting with her colleagues and took up residence in the cabin, making her the first person to take up permanent residence at the cabin. Margaux spread her mother’s ashes at the dock a few days after moving in.

Layout[]

The cabin had multiple levels. On the first level was a living area complete with a TV, bookshelves, and an area rug covering the wooden panel flooring. At the back of the cabin is a kitchen complete with a stove and refrigerator, with a table in the center of the kitchen. Down a hallway to the right was the bathroom, situated on the left, and a guest bedroom on the right.

There were two parts to the cellar, one was an addition made in 1967 to store wine made at the Avian Descent Winery on Isabelle's residence in Versailles, and the second part was a vault built by Francois to contain his spoils from the Civil War, as well as his and Juliette's Hidden Blades and Assassin Uniforms.

The entire upper level just consisted of a Master Bedroom, which was frequented by couples such as Arno Dorian and Elise de la Serre, Francois Dorian and Marie Albertine, and Isabelle Allard and Edouard Docieux, and the site of several intimate encounters between said couples. Isabelle gave birth to both Alexandre and Margaux in the spare bedroom of the cabin on the first floor.

Since 2013, many people have witnessed the spirit of Isabelle Allard roaming around the premises of the cabin, with many reports of her spirit standing on the dock during evening sunsets and the smell of cigarette smoke inside the cabin when no one was there. People have seen Isabelle's spirit looking out the newly added windows since 2015.

The most famous sighting of Isabelle’s spirit came in May 2023, when Margaux announced her retirement from the Assassin Order, Isabelle’s spirit appeared and placed her hands on her daughter’s shoulders. Harlan Baudin, who was present at the time, quickly snapped a photo and later showed it to Margaux, who believes it is Isabelle supporting her daughter’s decision, ten years after her passing.
