The Dutch Rite of the Templar Order were a group of like-minded individuals who swore fealty to the Templar ideals, and operated throughout Netherlands during the Dutch Revolt and Dutch Golden Age.
Fernando Álvarez de Toledo, 3rd Duke of Alba officially founded, and became the first Grand Master of the DutchRite in 1567. After Duke of Alba returned to Spain in 1573, Christoffel d'Assonleville served as the Grand Master of Dutch Rite of the Templar Order.
The Dutch Rite played a significant role in guiding the course of the Dutch Revolt, with an aim to repress revolt of United Provinces.
