Einarr (died 995) was a Viking raider and the father of the Hidden One Ari Einarrson and the husband of Englishwoman Cwenhild. Einarr is a descendant of the Isu Magni and an ancestor of the modern Assassin Horatio Pierce through the maternal line.
Biography[]
As a young man Einarr travelled to the Kingdom of England alongside his clan during the Vikings' Second Invasion of England in 980. During one of his clan's raids on an English village, he came across a woman who he immediately fell for and kept her alive by bringing her back to his clan's settlement as a slave. Despite the Englishwoman's status as a slave, he treated her with kindness and care, never making any advances on her.
Despite being cordial to her, the woman still met his kidness with contempt. However, over the time the two began to grow close and Einarr even provided her with the option of freedom because he had grown to care for her so much. The woman, introducing herself as Cwenhild, offered her serviced to Einarr's clan as she had nothing left for her now nor did the people of England ever give two damns about her anyway. Despite this, Einarr still gifted her her freedom and had her inducted as a member of the clan.
Einarr and Cwenhild would eventually fall in love before marrying and giving birth to a son, Ari, in 981. While Einarr took part in raids and battles across England, Cwenhild raised their son at the settlement but would pass away from illness in 988. For a time, his son would be raised among the clan but Einarr took temporary leave to raise and train his son.
When Ari was twelve, Einarr deemed his son ready to accompany him on raids throughout England.
In 995, Einarr and his son would raid a village in England where he would recover an odd looking artifact not appearing to be English in origin. Einarr returned to his settlement with the aritfact as one of his spoils. Weeks later, they were then raided by a rival clan unprompted. In the battle, Einarr fell at the hands of another where his death was witnessed by his then fourteen-year-old son.
Legacy[]
Einarr's actions and death would have lasting consequences. Witnessing Einarr's death drove Ari on a quest to avenge him which would eventually lead his son to the discover of the Hidden Ones, Templars, and the Isu.
