The Greek Rite of the Templar Order or Greek Templars is the branch of the Templar Order based in Greece. It has been in operation since at least the 4th century BCE during the reign of Alexander the Great. They mainly became active during the seventeenth century to eradicate the presence of the Assassins from the country and to get hold of an Apple of Eden which they later sent to Russia.
History[]
Assisting Alexander the Great[]
In the 4th century BCE, the Greek Sect of the Order of the Ancients allied themselves with King Alexander III of Macedonia. As a symbol of their alliance, the Order entrusted Alexander with a Staff of Eden, which helped Alexander to create one of the largest empires in history and become one of the most successful military commanders. However, on 13 June 323 BCE, Alexander was poisoned inside the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II by the Babylonian proto-Assassin Iltani, who then retrieved the Staff. After Alexander's death, his empire soon began to crumble.
Renaissance[]
In 1511, the Templars leaders in Athens paid Ottoman soldiers handsomely for looted goods. In response, Assassin Mentor Ezio Auditore sent some Ottoman Assassins from Constantinople to Athens in order to eliminate them.
That same year, the Assassins discovered that the Templars from Rhodes were commanding the Templars in Tripoli and subsequently cut off their supply and communication lines.
Seven Years' War[]
During the Seven Years' War, in 1761, Shay Cormac sent some agents of his fleet to the island of Crete, which had been used by the Templar Order as a headquarters many times across the centuries, to depart for nearby kingdoms. They recovered a Cretan Mosaic of the Minoan Civilization. Unfortunately, the base was attacked by the Greek Assassin fleet led by the Master Assassin Tasia Despoina who took control of the base, killed the angets of Cormac and took possession of the mosaic.
