Halvard: "Why?"
Enok: "You were a turncoat of the Assassins, and my master wanted you dead. "
Halvard: "And what are you? Why would you kill an Assassin who are supporting the Order? You have only been sent here to kill me because Tanja see me as a threat, haven't you? Stand up for what you meaning, fool! Tanja is the reason why the Templars cannot bring peace to this country."
—Halvard to Enok Jytte at his deathbed, 1773

Halvard Peterson was an Assassin operating in Kingdom of Denmark–Norway. He was the ex-lover of Tanja Andersen – another Assassin – and the father of Robert Andersen. At some point, he chose to leave the Assassin Order. He sympathized with the Templar Order, but never became a full member, much due to the Danish Templar Enok Jytte – who was manipulated by Tanja.

Biography []

Early life []

Little is known of Halvard's past before he is counted in the population census in 1751. According to Abstergo registers, Halvard had died when he was 44 years so you can suggest that he was born in about 1730. He arrived in the city some years ago, so he says. Halvard was just another one in the gutter of Christiania. After what is the deduction, Halvard most likely lived at the docks – serving as a longshoreman. If the authorities got their hands on him, Halvard was placed in something similar to a workhouse.

Induction[]

The Assassin records in Christiania can not tell much about the newly inducted members, but Halvard was inducted sometime from 1758 to 1760. Either way, he soon rose through the ranks of the Assassins and became the leader for the borough of Frogner. Operating from an Assassin Den, Halvard carried the task to protect the people who tried to oppose the King in the rich part of town. Halvard had a love affair with another Assassin, Tanja Andersen. In the period 1755–1756 the two shared several nights of passion, during which one of them Tanja became pregnant. Nine months later, she gave birth to their son Robert. Halvard and Tanja trained Robert as an Assassin.

Support the Templars []

After an incident in 1772, Halvard chose leave the Assassins. He traveled to the city of Drammen. In this city, he contacted a man named Ivar Horne – a Templar. Halvard knew of Ivar's connection to the Grand Master of the Dane-Norwegian Rite of the Templar Order – much due to that Ivar had been a target of the Brotherhood for a time.

Hoping to one day become a member of the Templar Order, Halvard soon got the chance to show Ivar what he was good for. They lived close together, and they both developed a deep relationship as friends. Halvard would protect Ivar from Assassins, while Ivar would teach Halvard how a Templar should act in diverse situations. When Ivar felt that the time was ready for Halvard to become a member of the Dane-Norwegian Rite, he sent a letter to the Grand Master. The letter was received and responded. But the ones that was to get the content did not got the chance to read it.

Death []

When Halvard and Ivar one day was on the docks to investigate a delivery of lumber, the first one felt being watched. He and his friend went for the warehouse to talk with the harbormaster – whom was a Templar too. But just as they both reached the man, the man fell to the ground. The man who stood behind him was not dressed in a hood, so it could not be an Assassin. But he wore a Templar cross at his belt. In the hand he held the bloody Templar necklace to the harbormaster. Halvard stood there perplex. The man took out two pistols and fired. Halvard fell to the ground, with Ivar beside him.

  • Ivar: "Have you any idea what you have done … Templar?"
  • Enok: "I am not a Templar yet, herr (mister) – ?"
  • Ivar: "Ivar Horne. Master Templar of the Dane-Norwegian Rite!"
  • Enok: "And you?" [turning to Halvard]
  • Halvard: "My name's Halvard Peterson."
  • Ivar: "Have you any idea what you have done … Templar?"
  • Enok: "My name's Enok, and yes, I do. I have stopped two corrupted men."
  • Ivar: "Corrupted? You are the one who are corrupted here, Enok!"

Ivar succumbed to his wounds.

  • Halvard: "Why?"
  • Enok: "You were a turncoat of the Assassins, and my master want you dead."
  • Halvard: "And what are you? Why would you kill an Assassin who are supporting the Order? You have only been sent here to kill me because Tanja see me as a threat, haven't you? Stand up for what you meaning, fool! Tanja is the reason why the Templars cannot bring peace to this country."

Halvard succumbed to his wounds.

  • Enok: "Sigh. Why did I need to hear that from two Templars?"

Legacy[]

Halvard was a Master Assassin until he left the Order. With the expertiece he had got from the Assassin Order, he knew how the Assassins operated. Therefore, he managed to kill several of the hitmen that was either hired by the Assassin Order – or skilled Assassins themselves. Those who were not killed, was wounded much enough to not get back on their feet – or fight – for the rest of their lives. When he operated as a Templar ally, Halvard was one time sent to Ålesund in order to retrieve the Apple of Eden that a Viking had hidden there. Halvard returned to Drammen – but had failed the mission. With the death of Halvard, he managed to enlighten Enok Jytte. By doing this, the latter killed the Norwegian Mentor and Tanja Andersen.
