Nusantaran Assassins were a branch of Assassins located in the Indonesian Archipelago. This branch of Assassins existed for more than 6 centuries, it is formed in medieval times.
This branch of Assassins was brought by Malik Al-Saleh, one of the descendants of Mon-Khmer kings and Middle-Eastern ancestry. Malik established the branch in Aceh in 1267 along with the establishment of Samudra Pasai , known as the first sultanate in Indonesia.
The clash between the Assassins and the Templars are well-involved in Indonesian historical events such as Colonial Era, Indonesia's National Awakening, Indonesia's War for Independence, 'Orde Lama (Soekarno's regime),Communist Party Massacre, 'Orde Baru (Soeharto's regime), and Reformation era.

The Foundation of the Assassins (1267)
Sultan Malik Al-Saleh formed the Indonesian Branch of Assassins as a tribute to his father, Nazimuddin Al-Kamil. He was an Egyptian Admiral, also an Egyptian Mentor of Assassins that barely conquered the city of Pasai. Along with the foundation of the Nusantaran Assassin, Malik established the kingdom of Samudra Pasai after a heartache of his father's death in 1265.
Malik officially put the city of Lhokseumawe as a headquarter of the creed, then spreading the Assassin influence and build more branches in island of Java,Borneo,Malacca , and Celebes .There are no Templar threats in this era.
Also, Malik assure that someday Nusantara will be a threat if the Templars came to spread their influence, and he would not let that happen. and in 1298 Malik gave the Mentor title to a Javanese Assassin, Wisnu Wardhana and moved the headquarter to his branch, in city of Magelang.
After the Death of Malik Al-Salih, Assassins are persecuted as heretics by the kingdom. It led them moved to Magelang,Java due to its religious conservative policy that banning any kind of minor sectarian activities.
The Majapahit Templars (1349-1364)
After a revealing murder of the high-ranked Javanese Assassin, Budi Dharma, a Javanese Mentor Wisnu Wardhana noticed that there are a Majapahit Templar intervention of his student's death because Budi Dharma was murdered while he hold the Apple of Eden. Also, Budi Dharma's son,Jaya Suryawarman Ibn Al-Hikmah (Surya) joined the Assassins to investigate what's behind his father's demise. Then, the Javanese Assassin mentor, Wisnu Ali Wardana sent him and his friend, Rama Wijaya to an undercover mission to the capital city of Majapahit Empire, Trowulan .
While Surya and arrived in Trowulan, they met the Assassin Informant, Suradi Pratama. He gave a blacklists of 6 men to eliminate and associated with the Templars. He also warned them that a Majapahit General, Gadjah Mada holds a strange gold object, Suradi convinced them that gold object is an Apple of Eden, used by Gadjah Mada as an attempt to conquest all of Nusantara.
After a successful investigation and assassination of those 6 targets, Surya and Rama realized that Gadjah Mada was a member of the Templar Order, also holds the Apple Eden to control and abuse his own king, Hayam Wuruk. Hayam Wuruk did not accept his campaign to conquer all of Nusantara, especially by war.
Surya successfully infiltrate the Hayam Wuruk's palace, Surya are finally met him. Hayam Wuruk told to Surya that he can't do such thing to stop the Gadjah Mada's campaign because he could kill him at anytime while he hold that 'gold object'. Also ,Hayam Wuruk been forced by him to marry the Sundanese Princess, Diah Pitaloka as an attempt to eradicate the Sunda Kingdom from the inside. Hayam Wuruk said:
'After I married her, then we would betrayed them,such ironic isn't it ,Surya? .Gadjah Mada would had a thousand ways to shatter Sundanese Kingdom, and I'm just a tool for him '
And at the end , Surya would like to help Hayam Wuruk to stop the Gadjah Mada's scheme. then Surya collaborate with all branches of Nusantaran Assassins, ranging from Sumatra, Borneo, Celebes, and Malacca 2 months before Bubat Incident was happened. The order realized that Majapahit is not the enemy, but the Templars who played a part on Majapahit officials that promotes a unification of Nusantara through a monotonous force.
Bubat Incident (1357)
The Sundanese royal families have arrived in the city of Trowulan, and the wedding ceremony between the King of Majapahit and Sundanese Princess was held in northern part of the capital city. Gadjah Mada and his men runs the ceremony and not letting the Hayam Wuruk to attend although he was a bridegroom. Gadjah Mada said to the Sundanese king that Diah Pitaloka would be married with King Hayam Wuruk as a concubine instead of Queen of Majapahit.
Then Lingga Buana refuse the Majapahit's offer, and he would said this is an insult. Lingga Buana wages a war in the Bubat Square with a strong of 90 men, with a support of 45 Assassins against the tens of thousands of Majapahit troops .and Surya finally stole the Apple but failed to assassinate Gadjah Mada, all of the royal families (including Diah Pitaloka,King Lingga Buana) and troops of Sundanese kingdom was subdued by Majapahit troops. Then the Assassins finally retreat the battlefield in only 30 men.
It was a complete defeat to the Sundanese kingdom, but a little success for the Assassins. And in 1364, Surya successfully assassinate Gadjah Mada in Trowulan, although the Majapahit scriptures said that he died in obscurity.
After his successful Assassination of Gadjah Mada, Surya initiated as the Mentor of Javanese Assassins in 1365.Twenty years later, Surya retired as an Assassin
Assassins In Demak Sultanate
Assassins had really shaped the development of Sultanate of Demak , started from the reign of Sultan Trenggana in 1505, this man had been aided and supported by the Assassins along with his well-trusted general, Fatahillah. A joint collaboration between Demak and Portuguese Order of The Assassins helped their campaign to cleanse the incoming Portuguese troops (which is the Templars) and occupy the city of Sunda Kelapa (1527-1545), and cleanse the last remnants of the Majapahit kingdom (1546), the Mentor of Javanese Assassins, Ihsan Panca Al-Walid was the man behind the successful campaign of Trenggana.
Also, The Demak Assassins gain strong alliances with the Malayan Assassins, by helping Sultan Manshur Shah of Malacca in attempt to neutralize the last remnants of the Majapahit Empire.
In 1547, Assassins realize that nearly 30 years ago, the Templars had succeed deceiving the 9 revered saints of Walisongo to excecute Syekh Siti Jenar, the previous Mentor of Assassins accused of heresy before Ihsan Panca Al-Walid. Then Ihsan decided to broke relationship with Demak Sultanate in 1548.
Assassins In Colonial Era (1626-Early 20th Century)
In this era, there are several Assassins took resistance against the establishment of the secretly Dutch Templar organization, known to the public as the Dutch East India Company (VOC). An open-public-Templar-puppeteer trading-company that would threaten and robbing the free-will to people of Nusantara. This era is where the Assassins had many failures.
Temporary Alliance With The Mataram Kingdom
- In 1626, a female Chinese-Indonesian Assassin, Xiao Ying funded by a mentor of the Dutch Assassin ,Pieter Jannsen to support the campaign of Sultan Agung. He's the Javanese Mataram king who planned to siege the city of Batavia, a city that controlled by Dutch East India Company. Sultan's siege took place in 1628 and 1629 in a result of double failure.
But in the other hand, in 1628 Ying realized that the Sultan's campaign did not analogous to the Assassins principles after Sultan decided to execute of his own 14.000 troops just because they're failed. Then in 1630 Ying, along with Jannsen broke the alliance with the Sultan Agung . Though it is a waste of time by the Ying and the Assassins, but she succeeded to establish a permanent headquarter (Indo-Dutch Assassins) in Batavia 2 years earlier.
The establishment of Batavian Assassin Order, gained members from all cultures throughout the following region. Most of the members are Betawi, Balinese, Chinese,Javanese, Dutch, and a Portuguese Mardjiker descent, whose the ethnics who inhabited Batavia in that era. It is known that the Order accepts all ethnicity. Batavian Order is the one of the most important Assassin stronghold in Southeast Asia.
Backing The Hassanudin (1667)
- Ying and the Indo-Dutch Assassins made an undercover mission to support the Celebes branch in 1667, in a process to backed the potential Makkasarese Assassin, Sultan Hassanudin of Gowa. To Ying, He's the liason that likely convincing to fortify pressures from Dutch East India Company (Templars). Ying finally murder Lukman Akbar, a Grand Master of Indonesian Templar that affiliated by the Dutch Templar Order.
In 1669, the stronghold of Hassanudin was sieged by the Dutch East India Company and caused the death of Ying. After she died, mentor of the Indo-Dutch Assassin chose Jannsen as a leader of the order, in 1630 Hassanudin retired/resigned as an Assassin and a Sultan of Gowa after he lose the siege of Sombaupu in 1629. Based on the Abstergo research, Hassanudin assassinated by a Templar agent.
Accompanying Diponegoro (1825-1830)
According to helix data, an Indonesian-Dutch Assassins, Luuk Christiansen and Muhammad Joko Alif, whose a high ranked members of the Batavian Order of the Assassins appointed by the mentor Ahmad Syukron to assist Diponegoro from the advancing Dutch Empire . Both of them were killed in action on 1827, and Diponegoro was captured and exiled by the Dutch to Makassar.
The Templar-backed Dutch Empire cleansed the surrounding rebellion across Nusantara in a result of full extensive success in the early 20th century which bring a huge decline for the Assassin Order, which opposed colonialism.
Assassins In National Awakening (1900-1938)
Nusantaran Assassins in the early 20th century gained influence into intellectual approach, through political organizations that shaped the idea of self-sovereign Indonesian nation-state out of Dutch Colonialism. There's a huge political showdown between the Assassins and the Templars during this era, especially in the Technische Hoogeschool te Bandung, STOVIA and the Budi Utomo.
The Templar Order prefer Dutch involvement of the Indonesian Independence to assure guidance and stability, while the Assassin adhere the Indonesian Independence by sovereign of the people, and by that Assassins supported the left-wing political parties, such as Indische Partij, PNI and ISDV (later be known as PKI) while Indonesian Templars are supporting Javanese bourgeoisie affiliated party, Parindra . Both of them are affiliated by some Indonesian founding fathers and intellectuals.
Also in this era, Assassins and Templars are on a quest to find The Sage. Rumours told that The Sage is currently studied at Technische Hoogeschool te Bandung and held the Dagger of Eden, which created by the Precursor Civilization.
Tan Ling Djie's Quest on The Sage (1902 - 1943)
During the early era of national awakening, The Batavian order consists of many Assassin apprentices, such as Tan Ling Djie and Sosro Kartono (R.A Kartini's older brother) summoned by Mentor Abimanyu on a search party to find the rumored ''Sage'. By applying as a scholar on Technische Hoogeschool te Bandung on 1926, Djie and Kartono found a trace of the Sage along with the Indonesian Templar Order. The competing moment resulted a huge intellectual clash between the Assassin and the Templars. But in this period, both have not found the man that they were looking for, only mere cheap tales and rumors.
Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies (1942-1945)
