"Those who arrogantly believe themselves to be so smart usually don't end up well. The truly clever ones are the honest and humble ones, because only these people could withstand the test of time and history."

Zhou Enlai (1898 - 1976) is a Chinese proletariat revolutionary, politician, strategist and diplomat. He served as the Mentor for the Chinese Brotherhood from 1927 until his death in 1976. Zhou is one of the central figures to the founding of the Communist Party of China and later becoming one of the most important leaders of the People's Republic of China. He is also one of the founders of the People's Liberation Army.

A skilled statesman and public speaker, Zhou is one of the few influential figures within the Chinese politburo widely acclaimed in the west and is regarded as the "Last True Proletariat Revolutionary". His advocation of peaceful co-existence with the western powers and his endeavors to mitigate the damage caused during the Cultural Revolution had made him immensely popular within the capitalist world and his eloquence and erudite mannerisms highly praised by western media.

His identity as the Mentor of the Chinese Brotherhood was later on discovered by his peer Mao Zedong and, coupled with national policy discrepancies and power struggles, have soured the relationship between the two. However, Zhou died of liver cancer in 1976 before Mao could plot to undermine his position.

After Mao's death a merely eight months later, Zhou was declared a national hero and great Marxist revolutionary by his associate and protege Deng Xiaoping, who succeeded him as Mentor of the Chinese Brotherhood.

Zhou appears in Assassin's Creed: Turbulence as a major deuteragonist.
